In my role as the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) at GigSky I am responsible for the entirety of GigSky’s revenue across Consumer, Enterprise and U.S. Government segments. I set the overall commercial strategy and directly oversee sales, marketing and business development teams while having dotted line leadership relationships with the product and operations organizations to ensure strategic and operational alignment across the company.

Before coming to GigSky in 2018 I was the co-founder and co-chairman of Simless, INC where we strived to simplify the way people and objects got access to cellular connectivity and before that I was the director of new product marketing for AT&T.

An eSIM, or embedded SIM, is a digital SIM card embedded directly into your device, eliminating the need for a physical SIM card. It allows you to switch between different carriers and data plans without changing the physical card. For international travelers, this means you can easily switch to a local data plan without the hassle of finding and purchasing a local SIM card. It provides a seamless, flexible, and convenient way to stay connected globally.

In the automotive sector, connected cars are also adopting eSIMs to provide real-time data and connectivity services. This widespread adoption is impacting these sectors by enabling seamless connectivity, reducing logistical challenges related to physical SIM cards, and allowing for more innovative and integrated services.

HOW DOES THE USE OF ESIMS BENEFIT CONSUMERS, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO TRAVEL FREQUENTLY, COMPARED TO TRADITIONAL SIM CARDS AND ROAMING PLANS?
eSIMs offer numerous benefits, especially for frequent travelers. Unlike traditional SIM cards, eSIMs let you switch between different carriers and data plans effortlessly without swapping out a physical SIM card. This means you can avoid costly roaming charges from your home carrier, which can be as high as $16 per day. Instead, you can choose from affordable options like GigSky, where you can get 7 days of unlimited data for as low as $28. Lastly, better network capabilities and more carrier support worldwide have contributed to the growing use and effectiveness of eSIMs.

HOW IS GIGSKY POSITIONING ITSELF TO CAPITALIZE ON THE GROWING ESIM MARKET, AND WHAT INNOVATIVE SOLUTIONS ARE YOU OFFERING TO CUSTOMERS?
GigSky is leveraging our position as an actual MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) to help us step above the competition, most of whom are simply resellers and don’t have networks themselves.  This includes being the only eSIM operator to offer services on Cruise ships and our ability to couple this will corresponding land coverage at all the ports of call.  Our global partnership with Visa is another way we’re able to work with one of the leading brands worldwide to provide close to a BILLION (and growing) eligible cardholders with either complimentary or discounted plans.   As you can imagine, Visa did a very thorough review of all the eSIM players and GigSky was who they chose to work with.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE MAIN CHALLENGES FACING THE ESIM INDUSTRY TODAY, AND HOW IS GIGSKY ADDRESSING THESE CHALLENGES?
One main challenge is that eSIM standards and carrier support vary worldwide. To address this, GigSky works with many carriers to ensure our service is compatible and seamless for customers. Another challenge is making consumers aware of the benefits of eSIM technology.  Less than 25% of today’s travelers are currently aware of eSIMs and how they offer a far cheaper and option to their mobile carriers’ roaming plans. We tackle this by providing clear and helpful information and excellent customer support to guide users as they transition from traditional SIM cards to eSIMs.

LOOKING AHEAD, WHAT TRENDS AND DEVELOPMENTS DO YOU ANTICIPATE IN THE ESIM INDUSTRY OVER THE NEXT FEW YEARS, AND HOW DO YOU SEE GIGSKY EVOLVING IN THIS SPACE?
In the next few years, we expect eSIM technology to be used in a wider range of devices, including more IoT applications and connected vehicles. We also foresee advancements in eSIM management platforms that will make it even easier for consumers to switch between plans and manage their connectivity. GigSky plans to evolve by expanding our partnerships, enhancing our technology platform, and continuing to innovate our products to meet the growing demand for seamless global connectivity while optimizing our content and website for the overall user experience and SEO.
