New Delhi – NDTV India has appointed Rohit Vishwakarma as its new Managing Editor, marking a powerful return for a journalist known for innovation, leadership, and a deep understanding of the Indian news landscape. With over 21 years in broadcast and digital journalism, Vishwakarma’s appointment signals a strong push toward grounded, tech-driven, and inclusive storytelling.
Rohit Vishwakarma has worked with some of India’s biggest news networks, including Star News, India TV, Aaj Tak, TV9, NDTV 24×7, and Editorji. Most recently, he served as Editorial Director at RTV News Network, where he launched one of India’s first AI-powered, multilingual video news platforms, enabling users to curate their own personalised news experiences.
Born and raised in a remote tribal village in Chhattisgarh, Vishwakarma’s rise in Indian journalism is a true story of grit and growth. A graduate of IIMC and MICA, he combines traditional newsroom instinct with new-age digital innovation. His leadership helped TV9 Marathi become the No. 1 channel in its market—making him the first non-Marathi editor to achieve this feat. He repeated this success in the Telugu market, proving his strength in working across languages and regions.
Known for creating breakthrough shows like ‘Wah Cricket’, ‘Third Degree’, and ‘Fund Ka Funda’, Vishwakarma has led coverage of major elections, budget sessions, and public health crises like the lumpy skin disease outbreak. His editorial direction during the 2024 Andhra Pradesh elections helped deliver a spot-on ground survey that attracted over 1 lakh live viewers.
Speaking about his new role, Vishwakarma said, “News must speak from the ground up – with honesty, humility, and purpose. NDTV has always stood for credibility. My goal is to build on that trust and bring truth to a generation that values transparency and participation.”
NDTV CEO and Editor-in-Chief Rahul Kanwal welcomed the appointment, calling it “both a homecoming and a leap forward.” He added, “Rohit’s work aligns with the kind of newsroom we are building -bold, grounded, and built for a new India.”
With Rohit Vishwakarma at the editorial helm, NDTV India is expected to grow further as a voice that reflects the real, diverse, and ever-evolving face of the nation.
