NEET PG 2025 Postponed: Exam to Be Held in One Shift After Supreme Court Order

Exam to Be Held in One Shift After Supreme Court Order

The NEET PG 2025 exam has been postponed after the Supreme Court of India ordered that it must be conducted in a single shift. The exam was earlier planned to be held in two shifts, but concerns were raised about fairness and equality in the assessment process.

Why the Exam Was Postponed

The Supreme Court’s decision followed the filing of a petition against the two-shift format. The petition argued that taking the exam in different sessions could lead to differences in question paper difficulty, making it unfair for some candidates. Many students had also shared these concerns, stating that they were unhappy with the way scores were adjusted in the two-shift system.

To ensure a fair and equal opportunity for all students, the court ruled that the NEET PG exam should be conducted in a single session nationwide.

New Exam Date to Be Announced Soon

The NEET PG 2025 exam was originally scheduled for June 15, but now it will be held on a new date that the National Board of Examinations (NBE) will announce soon.

Due to this change, the exam city slips (originally scheduled for release on June 2) and the admit cards (planned for release on June 11) will now be released on new dates.

The NBE also said that it will add more exam centres and improve infrastructure to make sure the exam can be held smoothly in one shift across all locations.

No Change in Exam Pattern

Although the date has changed, the exam format will remain the same. NEET PG 2025 will still be a computer-based test (CBT) conducted in English.

Here are the key exam details:

  • Total Questions: 200 multiple-choice questions
  • Total Marks: 800
  • Time Duration: 3 hours and 30 minutes

Students are advised to regularly check the official NBE website for updates on the new exam date, the release of admit cards, and other relevant details.
