Chanel has appointed renowned make-up artist Lucia Pieroni as its new Creative Make-Up Director, bringing a fresh creative voice to the French fashion house’s beauty division.

Pieroni will work alongside Chanel’s Make-up Creation Studio and report to Simona Cattaneo, President of Fragrance & Beauty. The appointment comes as Chanel continues to develop its beauty identity alongside the creative direction of Matthieu Blazy.

Pieroni is already familiar with the house’s evolving aesthetic. She previously created the beauty looks for Blazy’s debut collection as Chanel’s Fashion Artistic Director, which was presented on the runway in October 2025.

Trained as a painter, Pieroni has built an international career working between London and New York. Her approach to make-up has been shaped by a strong understanding of colour, form and individuality, leading to collaborations with some of the fashion and photography industry’s leading creative names.

From 2006 to 2019, she served as Make-Up Creative Director at Clé de Peau Beauté, part of the Shiseido Group. During that period, she worked across fashion shows, editorials and beauty campaigns, helping establish distinctive visual identities through her make-up artistry.

Speaking about her new role at Chanel, Pieroni said she was excited to share her artistic vision with the brand’s creative teams and contribute to a new chapter in Chanel’s make-up story.

Cattaneo praised Pieroni’s ability to recognise what makes each face distinctive and translate that understanding into expressive and intuitive beauty looks. She described Pieroni’s artistic perspective and expertise as an important addition to the Chanel make-up team.

Chanel’s global executive chairman Alain Wertheimer and global CEO Leena Nair also welcomed the appointment, highlighting Pieroni’s experience and international reputation in make-up creation.

With Pieroni now taking on the creative make-up role, Chanel’s beauty universe enters another new phase—one that places artistic expression, individuality and a strong understanding of modern beauty at the centre.
