The JKSSB (Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board) has announced a revised schedule for the Junior Engineer (JE) recruitment exams. The JKSSB exams, which have faced numerous delays in recent months, will now take place in October and November 2025.
According to the new schedule, the OMR-based written exam for Junior Engineer (Electrical) will be held on October 25, 2025, while the exam for Junior Engineer (Civil) will take place on November 2, 2025. Candidates can download their admit cards directly from the official JKSSB website, and the admit cards for the Electrical exam will be available from October 20, and those for the Civil exam can be accessed from October 27.
Reason for Rescheduling
The JE Electrical exam has seen multiple setbacks this year. It was first scheduled for August 24 across 35 exam centres but due to allegations of a paper leak, the test had to be cancelled despite being completed at 34 venues. The rescheduled date of September 21 was also postponed, leading to the latest October schedule.
The final date has now been set for November 2, 2025. Similarly, the JE Civil exam has also faced its own challenges. Initially planned for August 31 and later moved to September 7, the exam was postponed due to heavy rains and poor weather conditions across the Union Territory.
Vacancies Under Recruitment
Through this recruitment drive, JKSSB aims to fill a total of 800 Junior Engineer positions. Of these, 292 posts are for Electrical engineers, while 508 posts are for Civil engineers. The exams will be conducted in an OMR-based format, ensuring a structured and transparent evaluation process.
Guidelines for Candidates
Applicants are advised to carefully follow updates on the official JKSSB portal, jkssb.nic.in. Important instructions, admit cards, and exam guidelines will be uploaded on the website well before the exam dates. Candidates must carry their admit cards, valid identification proof, and other required documents to the exam centres.
What This Means for Aspirants
The repeated postponements have been frustrating for many candidates who have been preparing for months. However, the revised dates now give them a clear timeline to follow. With more than a month before the first exam, aspirants have additional time to revise their syllabus, practice mock tests, and strengthen weaker areas.
The JE recruitment exam is one of the most sought-after opportunities in the Union Territory, offering stable career prospects for engineering graduates. Securing one of these 800 posts is expected to be highly competitive, with thousands of applicants from across Jammu and Kashmir and beyond.
