Former Saint Laurent Executive Didier Nguyen Takes Charge as Casablanca CEO

Casablanca has named Didier Nguyen as its new Chief Executive Officer, signalling an important leadership change for the growing brand. He takes over from Frédérik Lukoff, who will become a senior advisor after leading the company since 2023.

Charaf Tajer founded Casablanca, which is known for its bold prints and modern approach to luxury streetwear. Nguyen steps in as the brand grows internationally and faces a more careful luxury market.

Nguyen has more than 20 years of experience with top fashion brands. He started at Givenchy in menswear, then led wholesale at Dior. Later, he joined Saint Laurent, managing menswear wholesale first in the US and then worldwide. In 2016, he became Executive Vice President of Business Development at Amiri, working closely with founder Mike Amiri to grow the brand.

Recently, Nguyen has worked as a strategic consultant, helping fashion and luxury brands with positioning, growth, and operations. His blend of creativity and business sense is considered a good match for Casablanca’s future plans.

Tajer pointed out that Nguyen combines product knowledge with business skills, and that they both value craftsmanship and storytelling. Nguyen described Casablanca as a unique brand with an identity that stands out even before people see its name.

This leadership change comes at an important moment. Casablanca has opened flagship stores in Paris and the US and is growing its global distribution. Meanwhile, the luxury fashion market is slowing down and retailers are more careful. Independent brands like Casablanca need smart strategies and a good understanding of the market during this time.

Nguyen’s experience with international retail and brand growth is expected to help Casablanca strengthen its global presence. His appointment shows the brand’s goal to become a more established, competitive luxury house while keeping its unique style.
