The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) has started registration for the March–April 2026 board exams. Eligible students can apply online at sdmis.nios.ac.in. The deadline to register without a late fee is December 20, 2025.
This registration phase is applicable to students enrolled under Stream-I, Block-I, as well as learners who wish to appear for subjects from previous public exams held before the September–October 2025 session. NIOS will release the exam timetable for Class 10 and 12 students in due course.
Late Fee Schedule Announced
NIOS has set up a late-fee system for students who miss the regular deadline:
- December 21–31, 2025: Registration with a late fee of ₹150
- January 1–10, 2026: Registration with a consolidated late fee of ₹1,600
All students need to pay the exam fees and upload the required documents online when they apply.
Important Eligibility Rule
According to the official notice, students who want a passing certificate must have a two-year gap between:
- The block or session of admission, and
- The year they passed their secondary examination.
Students who do not meet this rule can still register, but they can only take up to four subjects, including any they have already passed, in the March–April 2026 exams.
Advisory for Students
NIOS advises students to:
- Choose subjects carefully,
- Complete fee payment on time, and
- Upload the required documents correctly
This will help ensure smooth and successful registration for the upcoming board examinations.
