India’s win at the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup was more than just a historic sporting moment. After lifting the trophy and setting a new record in international cricket, the Indian team is also set to receive a big prize from the tournament’s huge reward pool.

The global tournament, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, had 20 teams competing and a total prize pool of about ₹101 crore (USD 11 million). Every team got a base reward, but the largest share went to the champions.

By winning the tournament, India will receive USD 2.34 million, about ₹21.5 crore. This victory also made history as India became the first team to win three T20 World Cup titles.

The runners-up will get USD 1.17 million (around ₹10.75 crore) for finishing second.

While the trophy and glory remain the biggest achievements, the financial rewards reflect the T20 World Cup’s global scale and prestige.

Although India was one of the favourites, their start in the tournament wasn’t completely smooth.

The team began with wins against the United States and Namibia, but the performances were not particularly dominant. However, momentum began to build when India secured a convincing victory against Pakistan in Colombo, which helped them advance to the Super 8 stage.

India continued their strong run but suffered a heavy defeat against South Africa in the Super 8 stage. The loss put the team under pressure, forcing them into must-win situations against Zimbabwe and the West Indies. Rising to the challenge, India secured crucial victories to move forward.

The semi-final was a thrilling match, with India holding their nerve to win by a narrow seven runs and secure a spot in the final.

In the final, the team performed strongly with both bat and ball, dominating their opponents and winning the title by a huge 96-run margin.

This win not only boosted India’s reputation as one of the strongest T20 teams but also marked a new chapter in the country’s cricket history.
