The National College of Ireland has announced scholarships totalling Rs 75 lakh for Indian postgraduate students to celebrate its 75th anniversary. This was revealed at a special event in New Delhi on February 28, which aimed to strengthen academic connections between India and Ireland and encourage more Indian students to consider studying in Dublin.

These scholarships are available to Indian students applying for certain postgraduate programs in business, computing, and psychology. The college will provide financial support by reducing tuition fees. Selection will be based on both academic merit and financial need.

Kevin Kelly, Ireland’s Ambassador to India, joined senior education leaders and partners at the New Delhi event. They discussed student mobility, skill development, and the growing interest among Indian students in postgraduate courses that offer clear career paths.

At the event, Professor Gina Quinn, President of NCI, said the scholarship shows the college’s commitment to making quality education more accessible. She emphasized that as a state-funded college, NCI prioritizes programs that prepare students for real jobs and long-term career success.

Founded in 1951, NCI is backed by Ireland’s Higher Education Authority. It has over 6,500 students enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate courses in business, computing, psychology, and education. The college has developed strong ties with employers in Ireland’s finance and technology sectors, which makes Dublin an attractive choice for many international students.

This new scholarship fund should ease the financial burden that often comes with studying abroad. Tuition fees are a big concern for many Indian students. With this help, qualified candidates will have better access to programs linked to industry and potential job opportunities in Ireland.

The anniversary event concluded with alumni interactions and discussions about future academic collaboration between India and Ireland.
