The Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT) has officially opened online registrations for the VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) 2026, the gateway to admission in its prestigious undergraduate engineering (BTech) programmes. Aspiring candidates can now register for the examination on the official website: viteee.vit.ac.in.
The VITEEE exam is a highly competitive entrance test conducted by VIT for admission to its campuses in Vellore, Chennai, Bhopal, and Amaravati (AP). Known for its world-class infrastructure, research-driven curriculum, and strong placement record, VIT remains one of India’s top private engineering institutions.
Exam Dates and Duration
According to the official announcement, the VITEEE 2026 examination is tentatively scheduled between April 28 and May 3, 2026. The test will be conducted as a computer-based test (CBT) at various designated centres across India and abroad. The total duration of the exam will be 2 hours and 30 minutes (150 minutes).
Each candidate is permitted to appear only once for the examination. Any attempt to take the test more than once will result in cancellation of candidature and admission. The exam will be held over multiple days, depending on the number of applicants per city.
Candidates should also note that both the application and counselling fees are non-refundable.
Exam Pattern and Marking Scheme
The VITEEE 2026 question paper will consist of 125 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) divided across five sections. Applicants can choose between the MPCEA (Mathematics-based) and BPCEA (Biology-based) pattern, depending on their Class 12 subject stream.
| Mathematics / Biology | 40 | 40 |
| Physics | 35 | 35 |
| Chemistry | 35 | 35 |
| English | 5 | 5 |
| Aptitude | 10 | 10 |
| Total Questions | 125 | 125 |
Each correct answer will carry four marks, while one mark will be deducted for every incorrect answer. Questions left unattempted or marked for review will not receive any marks. This introduction of negative marking is a new update and aims to encourage candidates to answer carefully.
The paper will be available only in English.
