SSC Reopens Self-Slot Selection Window For JE Exam Until November 28

The Staff Selection Commission has reopened the mandatory self-slot selection window for the Junior Engineer Paper 1 exam. Candidates now have until November 28 to choose their preferred exam city. The window was originally scheduled to close on November 13, but the commission has given applicants another chance.

Candidates must log in to ssc.gov.in and use the feedback module to submit their choices. This step is not optional. Anyone who fails to select a city will not be scheduled for the exam, and the commission will not issue an admit card.

SSC has stated that city allocation will follow a best-effort approach. If seats are not available in the cities chosen by a candidate, the system may assign the nearest available option instead.

Those who already submitted their choices earlier can now check their allotted exam city on the official website.

How SSC’s Self-Slot Selection Works

The self-slot selection feature is a new system designed to give candidates more control over their exam logistics. Applicants can pick up to three preferred cities and then select an exam date and shift. If the selected cities run out of slots, candidates can choose from the remaining locations, although their options for date and shift may narrow.

The commission introduced this approach to make center allocation smoother and more predictable, while allowing candidates to plan their travel and schedule with more certainty.
