MU Postpones LLM CET for Students with Banking Exam Clashes

MU Postpones LLM CET

Mumbai University (MU) has taken a kind step in rescheduling its LLM Common Entrance Test (CET) from November 10 to November 17, 2024. This adjustment is intended to accommodate students who may also be sitting for the Indian Institute of Banking & Finance (IIBF) CO/PO exams, scheduled from November 7 to 14, 2024, thus ensuring a smoother experience for those who qualify for both exams.

Recognizing the strain a scheduling conflict might impose on students pursuing multiple career avenues, MU issued a notice on Wednesday explaining the rescheduling decision. “Applicants who applied for the Online Centre-Based LL.M CET 2024-2025 examination are hereby notified that the CET examination, which was scheduled to take place on November 10, 2024, has been rescheduled for November 17, 2024, due to the PAN India CO/PO Examination,” read the circular.

This proactive change has affected over 4,500 students who had already registered for the LLM entrance exam. MU urged all candidates to remain informed of updates on its official website to stay current on any further announcements related to the entrance test and admissions.

Each year, MU’s LLM entrance exam is the primary entry point for aspiring law students to join the university’s esteemed law programs. However, delays in the 2024 exam cycle has added to student stress. The academic year was expected to commence in November, yet exam dates were only confirmed in late October. Consequently, students worry about potential delays in the academic session.

MU’s move reflects an understanding of the need for flexibility as students navigate their academic and career choices. By avoiding overlap with the IIBF exams, MU hopes to give students a better opportunity to prepare thoroughly for each exam and make career-defining choices with less stress.

While the delay has brought mixed responses, the university’s decision underscores its commitment to supporting the diverse career goals of its students. As the exam date approaches, MU’s attention to student welfare and academic schedules plays a pivotal role in its approach to higher education.

For now, students are advised to stay updated with MU’s official communications as they plan for their futures in law and beyond.
