Santander UK has appointed Mahesh Aditya as Chief Executive Officer of Santander UK Group Holdings plc and Santander UK plc, effective March 1, 2026.
The announcement was made through an official company press release.
Aditya, currently Group Chief Risk Officer at Banco Santander, will join the boards of Santander UK in October 2025 before assuming the CEO role. He brings over 30 years of financial services experience to the position.
Previously, Aditya spent six years in Santander’s U.S. business, first as Chief Risk Officer of Santander US for two years, then as Chief Executive Officer of Santander Consumer USA from 2019 to 2023.
Earlier, Aditya held roles at Citigroup, JPMorgan Chase & Co, and Capital One, gaining extensive experience in risk management, leadership, and banking operations.
As CEO, Aditya will oversee Santander UK’s personal and commercial banking services. The bank serves millions of customers nationwide through branches, telephone, mobile, and online platforms.
Santander UK continues to operate under the full regulatory supervision of the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA).
The appointment signals Santander’s focus on strengthening its leadership team with experienced global executives who understand both risk management and business growth.
Aditya’s extensive international and leadership experience is expected to support the company’s continued stability and growth in the UK banking sector.
