Stefanie Michaela’s story is one of courage, growth, and rediscovering a lifelong passion. After stepping away from music to focus on family, she has returned with fresh energy and a deeply personal albumTurning Pages. In this interview, Stefanie shares what inspired her comeback, the meaning behind her songs, and how embracing authenticity has shaped this powerful new chapter of her life.

WELCOME TO ABOUT INSIDER, STEFANIE MICHAELA. FOR READERS DISCOVERING YOU AT THIS MOMENT, HOW WOULD YOU INTRODUCE YOURSELF AND THE CHAPTER OF LIFE AND MUSIC YOU’RE CURRENTLY LIVING IN?
I’m Stefanie Michaela, and I’m truly turning the pages into this next chapter. My music tells the story of the journey I’ve gone through to get to where I am now.

YOUR ALBUM TURNING PAGES CARRIES A POWERFUL MESSAGE ABOUT RECLAIMING ONE’S STORY. WHAT DOES “TURNING THE PAGE” TRULY MEAN TO YOU ON A PERSONAL LEVEL?
Turning pages, to me, means starting a brand-new chapter at the current stage of your life. It’s not about what I’ve turned back from; it’s about making where you are right now something absolutely incredible. If you’ve dreamed about it, now is the time to turn the page, create your own narrative, and build something exciting that truly fulfills you.

AFTER PAUSING YOUR CAREER TO RAISE YOUR FAMILY, WHAT INNER SHIFT GAVE YOU THE CONFIDENCE TO RETURN TO MUSIC UNAPOLOGETICALLY?
I was presented with an opportunity, one I never truly thought I would return to. As much as I’ve always loved music and felt excited when I was asked to perform here and there, I believed those moments were simply small projects, with no clear path forward at this stage of my life. I truly believe things happen for a reason. Being asked to return to the studio and placed in that moment reignited my inspiration and pushed me to find a new way to bring my passion back into my life.

THIS PROJECT BRINGS TOGETHER RESPECTED NAMES IN POP AND R&B SONGWRITING AND PRODUCTION. HOW DID THOSE COLLABORATIONS CHALLENGE OR ELEVATE YOU CREATIVELY?
I learned so much by working with legends. It was truly wonderful to collaborate with individuals who genuinely cared about creating a beautiful product they could be proud of. Each note was thoughtfully placed where it belonged, and we made sure every one was clear and resonated with the audience.

TRACKS LIKE “STAY IN YOUR LANE” AND “BETTER WITH TIME” SPEAK DIRECTLY TO SELF-WORTH AND BOUNDARIES. WERE THESE THEMES SHAPED BY LIVED EXPERIENCE OR ARTISTIC INTENTION, OR BOTH?
These were shaping experiences. Over time, they guided me toward more therapeutic pieces, like “Stay in Your Lane.” The message is simple: you have to shut out the outside noise and stay focused. Otherwise, it becomes very difficult to accomplish anything.

AS A MOTHER OF FIVE, YOUR LIFE IS ROOTED IN RESPONSIBILITY AND LOVE. HOW HAS MOTHERHOOD RESHAPED THE WAY YOU WRITE, PERFORM, AND DEFINE SUCCESS?
I only have specific times to work on my passion, so I’m very strategic when it comes to planning and staying organized. I need goals, and I need everything to line up so I can make time for my family as well as for my music. Every experience I have—with my family and in life in general, drives me to create pieces that help me move through each obstacle and every moment filled with love.

EACH SONG ON TURNING PAGES FEELS LIKE A CHAPTER. WHICH SONG WAS THE MOST EMOTIONALLY DEMANDING TO CREATE, AND WHICH ONE FELT THE MOST LIBERATING?
I would say “Anything Is Possible” is the anthem for everything I’m trying to express. I feel this song is deeply inspirational and something people of any age can connect with. It’s about allowing yourself to take that leap and really shoot for the stars to see how far you can go. You have to believe in yourself; it starts with you. If you don’t make the decision to go for it, you’ll stay in the same place you’ve always been stuck in. And if you’re okay with that, that’s fine. But I knew I was meant for more, and I knew returning to my music would bring me peace. When the opportunity was presented to me, I had to run with it.

BEYOND THE MUSIC, YOU’VE CREATED MEANINGFUL CONNECTIONS THROUGH LIVE PERFORMANCES, COLLABORATIONS, AND WOMEN-CENTERED EXPERIENCES. WHY WAS IT IMPORTANT FOR THIS ALBUM TO EXTEND BEYOND THE STUDIO?
I intend to inspire others. I truly hope people are listening to my music, watching my videos, and taking a step back to ask themselves, Can I do that? I want people to stop worrying about what others think, it’s so liberating to show up on social media, put yourself out there, and press post. I’m proud of myself for ignoring the outside noise and staying true to what I love.

FOR WOMEN AND ANYONE WHO FEELS THEIR MOMENT HAS PASSED OR THEIR VOICE HAS BEEN DELAYED, WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE THEM TO TAKE AWAY AFTER HEARING THIS ALBUM?
People often ask themselves, Are you truly content in your day-to-day life? Is there anything that would bring you more joy? I want people to really think about that about how they can surround themselves with positivity, eliminate toxicity, and do something for themselves. What will put a smile on your face? What will make you excited to wake up in the morning? What will you be eager to talk to your family about and have them genuinely connect with?

That’s the one thing I want people to think about, and to try. You’ll never know if you don’t. I want you to feel proud of yourself. I want you to look in the mirror and say, I’m proud of you. I love myself. I’m grateful to be me. I accept my flaws; no one is perfect.

I’m going to scroll less and zoom in less. I’m going to stop analyzing every picture and wishing I looked or sounded like someone else. I’m choosing to be authentically me, and to be proud of that.
