At just nine years old, Kiernan Wolpert is already making a vibrant mark on the world of entertainment through his love for performing and making people laugh. Whether he’s singing songs from The Greatest Showman, creating videos for his YouTube channel, dancing across the stage, or sharing fascinating facts about outer space, Kiernan approaches everything with curiosity, creativity, and a great sense of humor.
The fifth grader has already found a second home in community theatre. This initial spark eventually led him to attend iPOP!, with NYLA Talent, where he starred in a short film, solidifying his desire to turn his natural charisma into a lifelong career.
A Grandmother’s Great Idea
Kiernan’s artistic journey into acting began at age seven. His grandmother, affectionately named Mimmy, noticed him constantly singing and humming around the house and encouraged him to audition for the role of a Lost Boy in a community theatre production of Peter Pan, A Musical Adventure. Little did she know this step would bring the family into uncharted territory in the world of theatre.
“I fell in love with my new theatre family,” he says.
From that very first production, Kiernan knew he had found something that made him truly happy, setting off a passionate pursuit of the stage.
Finding His Stage
Although acting began with theatre, Kiernan’s personality has always leaned toward performing.
He’s been singing since he was three years old and enjoys making YouTube videos, telling jokes, and entertaining anyone willing to watch. His love for storytelling eventually led him to iPOP!, where he hoped to continue learning while opening new doors for his future. Looking back, one experience stands above the rest.
“I loved making the short film because I now have more family members and friends,” he shares.
For Kiernan, the people he meets often become just as important as the performances themselves. This deep connection to musicals is heavily inspired by The Greatest Showman. Kiernan is constantly singing the movie’s songs, has watched and continues to watch the film countless times and dreams of one day performing alongside Hugh Jackman, the actor who inspired his love for the craft. In fact, Kiernan jokes that he’d love to become the younger version of Hugh Jackman and perform in The Greatest Showman on Broadway. His appreciation for performance history also runs deep; he thinks it would have been absolutely fabulous to dance in a film with the legendary Fred Astaire.
Always Learning
Outside of acting, Kiernan stays incredibly busy. He possesses a diverse and highly adaptable artistic toolkit that makes him a standout young performer.He trains heavily across multiple disciplines, studying ballet, jazz, hip-hop, and especially tap, which reigns as his favorite dance style. An innate musician, Kiernan has played the piano for six years, frequently learning complex songs entirely by ear. More recently, he’s begun learning the viola and is preparing to study percussion at school. His remarkable ear for sound also extends into linguistics; he is currently learning French and Spanish, possessing the rare vocal control to speak both languages without a discernable American accent.
On stage, he is recognized for his immense technical discipline and expressive nature, allowing him to be dramatic in a highly positive, captivating way that grabs an audience’s attention. One of his greatest strengths as a performer isn’t musical, however; it’s preparation. Kiernan has developed an excellent reputation for memorizing lines quickly, listening carefully to direction, and adapting almost immediately during rehearsals. It’s a skill that has earned him praise from directors while helping him feel increasingly confident on stage. This artistic talent is backed by a distinct industry asset: Kiernan is shorter than most children his age, giving him the unique versatility to convincingly play much younger boy roles.
Quiet Confidence
Driven by his personal motto, “I’ve got this!”, Kiernan looks toward the future with massive dreams and an inspiring sense of courage. Although Kiernan loves performing, he admits that meeting new casts for the first time can still be a little intimidating.
“The first day is always the scariest,” he confesses.
But once rehearsals begin and friendships form, everything changes. That experience has taught him that courage isn’t about never feeling nervous, but rather persevering through the initial anxiety.
Beyond the Spotlight
Away from the stage, Kiernan leads a dynamic and well-rounded life filled with eclectic hobbies. He is an animal lover who loves having cuddle time with his dog, Kahli. An avid gamer, he loves playing Minecraft and Roblox with his friends, creating videos for his YouTube channel, K Kreates, and frequently challenging his family to competitive board games like Monopoly and chess. He stays highly active outdoors and on the courts, regularly playing tennis or pickleball, skiing with his family, and enjoying his town’s annual Jazz Festival. When his mom tells him it is time to take a break from electronics, he can be found outside with friends or creating stories to pass the time. He is also happily eager to share fascinating facts about outer space, planets, stars, and galaxies with anyone willing to listen. Though he has plenty of favorite foods, he remains firm on one stance, that he will never eat school pizza.
Looking Ahead
Over the next year, Kiernan has one goal that might surprise people. Through channeling his digital creativity, he wants to grow his YouTube channel to 100 subscribers by producing entertaining content while continuing to build his acting career. More than anything, he hopes to keep doing what he loves: acting, singing, dancing, and making people smile.
His advice to other young performers is refreshingly simple.
“It’s okay to be scared. Just have fun with it. You CAN do it! Be brave!”
When asked what he’d like people to remember about him, Kiernan doesn’t talk about fame or awards. Instead, he hopes people remember that everyone has unique gifts waiting to be discovered.
“Once you are on stage, just believe in yourself!”
If Hollywood called tomorrow, however, he’d happily accept almost anything involving musicals, comedy, or even outer space. After all, becoming an astronaut is still somewhere on his list of dreams.
