HELLO KYRSTA RODDEN, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR JOINING US! PLEASE, BRIEFLY INTRODUCE YOURSELF, WHO IS KYRSTA RODDEN IN YOUR OWN WORDS?
Kyrsta Rodden is a 16 year old country music singer-songwriting from Dallas just chasing her dreams. I have worked so hard to get where I am and am so excited to be interviewing with y’all today!
WHAT DREW YOU TO THE MUSIC INDUSTRY?
What drew me into the industry was all the glitz and the glamor but also seeing how artists influence the people who listen to their music through their music. When I saw what music can do for a person, that is when I knew that I wanted to pursue it!
WHEN DID YOU FIRST BEGIN TO CREATE MUSIC?
I started singing ever since the age of 13. At this time, I was just getting my start and I did not even know that writing my own songs and creating something was even an option for me because I was so young and just getting involved. But then I realized about 2 years later, at the age of 15, that making music is something that I really wanted to pursue and that if I wanted to be taken seriously as a musician, then I needed to elevate myself to the next level!
PLEASE EXPLAIN YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS.
Music ideas come to me all the time and they come to me in the most random ways. I could be watching a movie and hear something that someone said, or I could be scrolling on my phone and a tune suddenly pops into my head. Then I take that, and build off of it and I expand on the concept and I get with other writers and we just kill it in our session to get that final product!
HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR HOMETOWN HAS INFLUENCED THE KIND OF MUSIC THAT YOU MAKE? IF NOT, WHY IS THAT?
Well growing up in Texas, you are naturally attracted to country music because you are around it all the time and my hometown definitely helped influence that. It seems like country is all everyone listened to and growing up, all me and my friends ever listened to was country music and artists like Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood!
WHO HAS INSPIRED YOU IN YOUR LIFE, WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT SO FAR?
The people who have influenced me and continue to influence me are my family. They have supported me through everything and they continue to push me to achieve my dreams. I would have to say that my greatest achievement so far is making the connections in the industry and putting myself out there and making more music!
IS THERE A HIDDEN MEANING IN ANY OF YOUR MUSIC?
There is always a meaning inside my songs but it is never hidden. I want my listeners and fans to know what I am writing about and make the messages bold and clear. But yes, there are always meanings inside of my songs!
DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR OUR READERS THAT ARE TRYING TO BREAK IN THE INDUSTRY?
The funniest thing is, the advice I give everyone would have to be the cheesiest stuff that you always hear. Never give up is one that I have always had to fall back on and I get told all the time “You have already made it this far, why give up now?” But all the cheesy quotes and things you hear are the ones that stick with me and help me!
