Kris Prihodova Inspires at 6 Minutes Challenge

The Bohemian National Hall in Manhattan came alive with talent and inspiration during the 6 Minutes Challenge, an event organized by the Czechoslovak Society of Arts and Science’s New York Chapter. This dynamic platform invites Czech and Slovak artists, scholars, and professionals to share their passion and work in a rapid-fire six-minute format. Among this year’s standout voices was Kris Prihodova, whose story captivated the audience with its blend of intellect, independence, and artistic evolution.

In her presentation, Prihodova took the audience on a whirlwind journey across continents and disciplines. Holding a degree in chemistry, she spoke about how her life has unfolded far beyond the lab. Over the past eight years, she has lived in six different countries, Singapore, Malaysia, Canada, Vietnam, Japan, and the Czech Republic, before making New York her current home.

Prihodova built a decade-long modeling career not through conventional means, but by going against the grain. Overlooked by many agencies due to her height, she embraced the challenge and forged a successful freelance path. Her determination landed her campaigns with global brands such as Honda, Klarna, Nespresso, and Puma. She even had the honor of opening and closing the runway show for Italian designer Elisabetta Franchi.

But it was through modeling that she discovered her deeper creative calling – acting. Trading science for the screen, Prihodova enrolled at the New York Film Academy, where she began honing her craft and stepping into independent cinema. Today, she’s working to bring her work to film festivals and broaden her reach in the industry.

The evening also featured other notable talents, including Jan Cina, a well-established Czech actor known for his extensive work in theater and television. Cina’s presence added a special energy to the event, highlighting the richness of Czech artistic voices both at home and abroad.
