Infosys to Expand Pocharam Campus, Adding 17,000 Jobs in Telangana

Infosys, one of India’s leading IT services firms, has announced a significant expansion of its Pocharam campus in Telangana. The company promises to create 17,000 additional jobs and reinforce the state’s reputation as a growing tech hub.

The announcement was made at the World Economic Forum in Davos during a meeting between Infosys CFO Jayesh Sanghrajka and Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister, D. Sridhar Babu. The collaboration highlights Infosys’ commitment to innovation and Telangana’s role in nurturing the country’s technology ecosystem.

Infosys’ Pocharam campus, located near Hyderabad, currently employs over 35,000 people, making it one of India’s largest facilities. With the planned expansion, Infosys aims to construct new IT buildings in the first phase of development, slated for completion within 2-3 years.

This initial phase, which requires an investment of ₹750 crore, will create workspace for 10,000 employees. Over the course of the expansion, 17,000 new job opportunities will be generated, marking a significant boost for the local economy and employment in the region.

Jayesh Sanghrajka emphasized the alignment between Infosys and Telangana’s vision for growth. “Our partnership with the Government of Telangana reflects a shared vision of driving innovation, empowering communities, and strengthening the IT landscape,” he said.

Telangana’s IT Minister, D. Sridhar Babu, highlighted the state’s dedication to fostering a thriving tech environment. “The state government remains committed to nurturing talent, creating opportunities, and fostering strategic alliances to propel the state’s economy forward,” Babu said.

The partnership underscores Telangana’s proactive approach to attracting investments, nurturing talent, and establishing itself as a leader in the technology sector.

Over the past decade, Telangana has emerged as a key player in India’s IT sector, with Hyderabad at its core. The city has attracted significant investments from major global and domestic tech firms, bolstered by the state’s business-friendly policies and focus on infrastructure development.

The Infosys expansion is another feather in the cap for Telangana, reflecting its ability to foster collaborations with industry leaders to drive sustainable growth.

The creation of 17,000 jobs at the Pocharam campus will not only provide employment opportunities but also stimulate local businesses and infrastructure. The ₹750 crore investment signals Infosys’ long-term commitment to the region, offering a positive outlook for both the tech industry and the broader economy.
