Diesel has appointed Andrea Rigogliosi as its new chief executive officer, marking an important leadership change amid uncertainty in the global fashion industry. The Italian brand, known for its bold and unconventional identity, is entering a new chapter as it navigates slowing consumer demand, rising costs, and changing shopping habits worldwide.
The announcement was made by Diesel and its parent company, OTB Group. In his new role, Rigogliosi will report to Ubaldo Minelli, chief executive of OTB Group. He takes over after an interim leadership phase that guided Diesel through a prolonged slowdown affecting much of the apparel industry.
Rigogliosi brings deep experience in luxury and global retail. Most recently, he served as global head of retail and commercial at Miu Miu, part of the Prada Group. There, he played a key role in driving international growth and strengthening the brand’s global distribution network. His work helped Miu Miu expand its reach while maintaining a strong and consistent brand presence across markets.
Earlier in his career, Rigogliosi held senior positions within LVMH, the world’s largest luxury group. These included serving as president of Europe at Fendi and general manager roles at Christian Dior Couture in key regions such as France, Monaco, and Italy. He also gained experience at Poltrona Frau Group and L’Oréal Luxury Products earlier in his career.
Commenting on the appointment, Renzo Rosso, founder of Diesel and chairman of OTB Group, said the timing was critical for both the brand and the wider fashion industry. He highlighted Diesel’s unique position as an alternative to traditional luxury, with a strong focus on inclusivity, creativity, and accessibility. Rosso added that he had been closely involved in guiding the brand through recent market challenges and expressed strong confidence in Rigogliosi’s ability to lead Diesel into its next phase of growth.
As fashion companies deal with uneven consumer demand and shifting spending patterns, Rigogliosi’s role will be to maintain Diesel’s momentum while strengthening its global and commercial presence. Positioned between premium streetwear and luxury fashion, Diesel now looks to its new chief executive to sharpen its strategy and ensure long-term relevance in a rapidly evolving market.
