Sky Alexis is an actor and voiceover artist best known for her voice over roles in multiple award winning films and television series. She voices the role of Lisa in the Dreamworks Animation Film “Orion and the Dark ”, now streaming on Netflix. Sky can also be heard in the Oscar Award winning animated film “Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio”. Her other award winning roles include a supporting role in the Oscar nominated film “Klaus”. Sky’s other credits include voicing the role of Hippety Hopper in the Cartoon Network Looney Tunes show “Bugs Bunny Builders”. Sky’s live action credits include a heavily recurring role on the Netflix series “Emily’s Wonderlab”. Sky took time out of her busy schedule for this interview about her career.
HI, WELCOME TO ABOUT INSIDER! THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO CHAT WITH US! CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF, WHO IS SKY ALEXIS IN YOUR OWN WORDS?
Hi. Thank you for having me. Oh gosh, who is Sky Alexis. Honestly, Sky Alexis is a regular kid. I really like to play any kind of sport. When I’m not recording a project I’m either on some sort of field playing a sport, even football or hanging with friends.
TELL US ABOUT YOUR FILM “ORION AND THE DARK”
“Orion and The Dark is a film about a boy with an active imagination that learns to face his fears when he goes on an incredible journey with his friend which is a giant creature named Dark.
WHAT WAS YOUR MOST MEMORABLE TIME ON SET OF “ORION AND THE DARK”?
The recording studio was so big. The room I recorded in was about the size of a movie theater. It is just so exciting to be a part of.
TELL US ABOUT A TIME WHERE YOU HAD DIFFICULTY WITH A CHARACTER. WHAT WAS THE ROLE AND WHY WAS IT CHALLENGING?
I would say that would be Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinnochio. It wasn’t a difficulty with the character, it was just that I needed to learn an Italian accent. I was so excited and rose to the challenge.
THE FILM GUILLERMO DEL TORO’S PINOCCHIO, WHICH WAS RELEASED IN 2022, WON AN OSCAR. WHAT DOES IT FEEL LIKE TO BE A PART OF AN OSCAR-WINNING FILM?
It feels like an incredible honor. Every time I audition I try to create something for the project that feels authentic and like it might fit the character. To be chosen to work on a character and then the project be nominated and win an Oscar is a dream. It feels like a dream come true.
WHO ARE YOUR BIGGEST INFLUENCES?
I really don’t have any influences. I try to just be me. Maybe my Mom? I definitely go to my Mom for advice when I need it.
WHAT’S SOMETHING WE SHOULD KNOW ABOUT YOU THAT MIGHT SURPRISE US?
I played football on a football team and I loved it.
ANY UPCOMING PROJECTS/ROLES YOU CAN TALK ABOUT?
I have some fun things I’m working on but I can’t mention them just yet. As soon as I can, you’ll be the first to know.
