For Zoe Lyn Cook, performing has never been just about stepping into the spotlight. It’s about connection. Whether she’s bringing a character to life on stage, singing alongside friends, or meeting fellow performers who share the same dream, Zoe has always believed that entertainment has the power to bring people together. Now, after attending iPOP!, with NYLA Talent, the aspiring actress and singer is leaving with new friendships, valuable industry connections, and even greater confidence as she pursues a professional career in Hollywood.
Grounded by her faith, Zoe describes herself first and foremost as a child of God. She believes in encouraging others rather than tearing them down and hopes that wherever her career leads, people will always feel comfortable approaching her with a smile.
“I never want people to be afraid to come and say hi,” she says. “Meeting new people is one of my favorite things in the world.”
Finding Her Place Through Performing
Zoe discovered her passion for entertainment the moment she joined her first theatre production. More than the applause or the performances themselves, she found something even more meaningful, a community.
“When I joined my first theater show, that was the first time I found a group of people who I really belonged around,” she explains.
That sense of belonging sparked a passion for acting, singing, and performing that continues to drive her today. Every production has strengthened not only her love for storytelling but also her appreciation for the friendships and connections that come with it.
A Week to Remember at iPOP!
For Zoe, attending iPOP! was about more than simply showcasing her talent. She saw it as an opportunity to grow personally and professionally while creating opportunities through hard work.
“I believe you have to work for the things you want,” she says. “Opportunities aren’t just provided to you out of the blue.”
Throughout the week, she embraced every moment, from performing in front of industry professionals to meeting agents, staff members, parents, and fellow performers. While the professional opportunities were exciting, the friendships she made may ultimately become one of the most memorable parts of the experience.
“I’ve made so many connections that I’m excited to keep in touch with going forward.”
Inspired by Great Storytelling
Growing up, Zoe admired many performers, but one actress has remained her biggest inspiration.
Zendaya. After first watching her in K.C. Undercover, Zoe became captivated by the way Zendaya completely transforms into every character she plays. It’s a quality Zoe hopes to develop throughout her own career. When imagining her dream role, she doesn’t picture superheroes or fantasy adventures. Instead, she’s drawn to authentic, character-driven storytelling. She would love to play the classic “girl next door” or romantic lead in a feature film, while also dreaming of joining the cast of a mockumentary-style comedy similar to The Office or Parks and Recreation, where humor grows naturally through memorable characters.
A Love of Music
Acting may be her primary focus, but music has always played an equally important role in Zoe’s life. She has played piano since she was a young child and continues practicing whenever she can, simply because it brings her joy. She has also begun learning both ukulele and guitar, although piano remains her favorite instrument. Her love for musical theatre runs even deeper.
From timeless Broadway classics to today’s newest productions, Zoe rarely goes a day without listening to musical soundtracks. In fact, her musical theatre playlist contains more than 1,800 songs, with Merrily We Roll Along and Gypsy sitting at the very top of her favorites. She even has one unusual hidden talent. She can sing with her mouth closed.
Turning Challenges into Strengths
One of Zoe’s proudest accomplishments isn’t something audiences immediately notice. It’s the work she has done behind the scenes. Earlier in life, she struggled with reading and understanding written concepts, making memorization particularly challenging. Rather than allowing that obstacle to define her, she worked tirelessly to improve. Today, memorizing scripts has become one of her greatest strengths, a reminder that persistence often transforms weaknesses into opportunities. That same determination shapes the advice she gives herself.

Staying Grounded
When asked who inspires her most, Zoe doesn’t point toward Hollywood. Instead, she immediately thinks of her mother. She admires her mom’s perseverance through difficult times and hopes to carry those same qualities of love, compassion, and understanding throughout her own life.
Family remains incredibly important to her, including her younger brother and sister, who continue to bring laughter and joy into her life. Away from performing, Zoe enjoys traveling, exploring new places, watching movies, and discovering new television series. Among all the places she has visited, New York City remains her favorite destination.
Looking Toward the Future
Over the next year, Zoe hopes to book her very first professional acting role. She knows the journey won’t always be easy, but she’s committed to continuing her training, embracing every opportunity, and trusting the process. Her advice to other young performers reflects the mindset that has carried her this far.
“Don’t listen to the people who want to tell you what to do. It’s your life and your choice. Don’t even let yourself stop you from following your dreams.”
Above all else, Zoe hopes people remember one thing. While she embraces the gifts and talents she has been given, she believes they come with a greater purpose. She credits her faith for keeping her grounded and hopes that through her work, as an actress, singer, and performer, she can encourage others, inspire confidence, and remind people that kindness, perseverance, and genuine connection will always matter.
