Makaila Cameron Interview

Makaila is 14 years old. She refers to herself as a middle class girl from Wisconsin trying to achieve her dream. She currently resides in Menasha Wisconsin, where she resides with her family. She has always been one to make people smile. As a kid to know she loves making people feel good about themselves and helping others. She is very skilled in knowing how to cheer up many! Makaila is a very expressive and bubbly person. She makes sure she isn’t the only one like that in a room. She has seven siblings and is pretty skilled in solving problems and working things out in a manner that everyone feels comfortable with. Makaila was recently homeschooled but used to go to public. She always has loved singing and acting, as a kid she played flounder in a musical through her local parks and rec. And later on, she did a high school musical as a middle schooler. Makaila dreams to do much more than just stuff in her local town and more with others who she can bring a smile to, and maybe a new friend.

HELLO MAKAILA CAMERON, WELCOME TO ABOUT INSIDER! WHAT GOT YOU INTO ENTERTAINMENT THAT MADE YOU REALIZE THAT IT WAS YOUR CHOSEN PATH?
As a kid I always loved role playing with my siblings, I have especially fond memories of dressing up as an agent from Wisconsin PBS kids Odd Squad. My siblings and I would dress up and put on skits. I have always had a love for music. There is something about music that feeds my soul. I always felt that no matter what i could always put a smile on someone’s face. Another reason that I realized this was my path was to show people that no matter what background you come from, you can always reach for your dreams.

WHAT KIND OF TRAINING HAVE YOU RECEIVED SO FAR AHEAD OF IPOP!?
I am part of NYLA Talent and do workshops with Robert Vito and Connor Weil. I was a part of Menasha High School musical The Wizard of Oz. I received vocal lessons from Laura Vocal Arts in Appleton, WI. I am also part of the Badgers All State Choir and have performed at Lawernce University in Appleton.

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTERS YOU’VE BEEN INVOLVED IN?
My favorite role is as a volunteer actor at Youth Go’s (nonprofit) haunted trails. I have done 4 Halloweens now. I absolutely love Halloween and being a scar-character has been my favorite acting job so far.

English and Southern.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE PROJECTS THAT YOU TYPICALLY PREFER?
I have yet to be on TV or the screen. I look forward to the opportunity to that kind of work. I love Halloween and would like the opportunity to do a scary movie one day. I like coming of age genres.

FOR FUN! IF YOU WENT BACK TO THE GOLDEN ERA OF HOLLYWOOD, WHICH ACTOR DO YOU RESONATE WITH MOST AND WHY?
Elizabeth Taylor, because of everything she accomplished in her life from her talented acting career to her other endeavors in bettering communities and helping people. She set a path for a young woman like me to follow. She was put together yet messy at the same time. She started as a child actor and ended up becoming one of the highest paid actresses at the time. She is true story of reinvention and resiliency.

WHAT IS YOUR THING TO DO WITH YOUR FRIENDS?
Catching up and going for walks to the park. Swimming and baking.

Network and make connections for future collaborations. I’m new to the industry and as this is my first opportunity in this environment, my goal is to find as many mentors as I can to learn from.

WHAT DID YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT ATTENDING IPOP!?
My favorite part has been meeting new people from all over the world and our country. It’s so amazing to be in a place where everyone is here because we are all passionate about what we want and are taking the first steps towards making our dreams into reality together. This is the beginning of my journey and the memories I made and am making will be remember for years to come.
