Nike Appoints David Denton as New Chief Financial Officer

Nike announced that David Denton will become its new Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, starting August 17. He will take over from Matthew Friend, who will stay with the company until September 4 to support the transition.

Denton has over 30 years of experience in finance and business leadership at major global companies. He comes to Nike from Pfizer, where he has been Chief Financial Officer since 2022. Before that, he was CFO at Lowe’s Companies and spent almost 20 years at CVS Health in senior finance roles, including Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

In his new role, Denton will lead Nike’s global finance team and work closely with President and CEO Elliott Hill and other leaders as the company continues to focus on growth and innovation.

Hill said Denton’s background in leading finance at top consumer businesses makes him a strong fit to help Nike carry out its long-term plans. Hill also said the company is committed to serving athletes, improving product innovation, and working with more discipline.

This leadership change comes just days before Nike will report its fourth-quarter and full-year fiscal 2026 results on June 30. The company also said its upcoming results will include a financial benefit from tariff refunds that was not part of its earlier guidance.

Denton’s appointment is a key leadership change for Nike as the company aims to strengthen its financial strategy and adapt to the fast-changing global retail and consumer market.
