Supergoop! Picks Beauty Industry Expert Melis del Rey as Its New CEO

Supergoop!, the skincare brand that makes sunscreen both exciting and essential, has named Melis del Rey as its new Chief Executive Officer and Board Director. She will start her new role on December 8, 2025.

Melis del Rey is well known in the beauty and consumer products industry, bringing over 20 years of experience. She has built strong brands, used technology to improve beauty shopping, and helped businesses grow through key retail partnerships.

Before joining Supergoop!, she was General Manager of Amazon’s U.S. Health and Beauty division. She turned Amazon’s beauty category from a basic, replenishment-focused section into a top online beauty destination. Under her leadership, Amazon Beauty became known for its immersive and personalized shopping experience.

Edgar Huber, Chairman of the Board at Supergoop!, praised the appointment, saying, “Melis is a dynamic and visionary leader. Her deep knowledge of beauty, e-commerce, and omnichannel strategy makes her the perfect choice to guide Supergoop! through its next era of growth.”

Melis del Rey takes over from Gregory Polcer, who has been Interim CEO since May 2025. Polcer will work with her during the transition and stay on the company’s Board of Directors. He said the brand is strong and ready for its next chapter under her leadership.

Del Rey combines engineering expertise with marketing and retail experience. She has a Ph.D. in New Product Development & Engineering Design and started her career as a researcher before joining Procter & Gamble. She spent over ten years in marketing and sales leadership roles for P&G’s global beauty brands. For the last 11 years, she helped shape Amazon’s global beauty business. She also serves on the board of Cosmetic Executive Women (CEW), which supports women leaders in the beauty industry.

Speaking about her new role, del Rey said, “Supergoop! is one of those rare brands that actually defines its category. The brand has changed the way people think about SPF through innovation and joyful education. I’m excited to help expand its impact and bring its mission into even more daily routines around the world.”

Supergoop! is known for making SPF a daily habit with fun, easy-to-use products. The company’s goal is to protect skin and raise awareness about preventing skin cancer, which is one of the world’s most common health concerns.

Earlier this year, Supergoop! entered the Indian market by partnering with Nykaa, further expanding its global reach.

With Melis del Rey leading the company, Supergoop! is preparing for more international growth, stronger consumer engagement, and ongoing innovation in the SPF category.
