Once again, boxer Ryan Garcia finds himself in the spotlight, and once again, it’s for all the wrong reasons. Garcia was arrested on Saturday night in Beverly Hills, adding to the string of negative attention surrounding him.
The 25-year-old was arrested for felony vandalism after allegedly damaging property at the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Los Angeles. Law enforcement sources revealed to TMZ that Garcia was seen wearing a helmet while being led out in handcuffs by police officers. This incident comes just days after a family member of Garcia’s requested a welfare check on him while he was staying at the same hotel.
Garcia’s concerning behavior has been evident in the lead-up to his fight against Devin Haney. His social media antics raised concerns about his well-being, although much of it was thought to be exaggerated. However, Garcia later admitted to drinking and smoking every day leading up to the event. Additionally, he tested positive for a banned substance, casting doubt on the legitimacy of his win.
It’s becoming increasingly apparent that Garcia may be struggling with a drinking problem, and it’s likely that he will need external assistance to get back on track, both personally and professionally. This latest arrest only adds to the growing concern surrounding the embattled boxer.
