Where is Donald Trump? That’s the question gripping Washington, and much of the internet, as the 79-year-old President has suddenly disappeared from the public eye.
Trump has no public events scheduled all weekend, sparking wild theories online about his health. Some users on X (formerly Twitter) claimed the President had not been seen for more than 24 hours. “What is going on?” one asked. Another wrote, “Trump has no public events scheduled all weekend. Don’t believe he was seen today either.”
The speculation has only grown louder because of Trump’s recent health scare. He was photographed with a large bruise on his hand, which many claimed he tried to cover with makeup.
Dr. Sean Barbabella, Trump’s physician, attempted to calm fears, blaming the bruises on “minor irritation from frequent handshaking” and aspirin use. He insisted Trump was in “excellent cognitive and physical health.”
But online critics aren’t convinced. The images of Trump’s hand have gone viral, with many suggesting the President is hiding something serious.
The White House has been forced to respond. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt insisted Trump is “a man of the people” who meets and shakes more hands than any president in history. “His commitment is unwavering,” she said.
Even Vice President JD Vance tried to downplay the drama, telling USA Today that Trump was in “great health.” Still, in the same breath, he admitted he was ready to take over if “some terrible tragedy” were to occur, a comment that did little to silence rumors.
Trump had reportedly planned to spend the final two weeks of August at his Bedminster, New Jersey, resort. But in a sudden change, he stayed back at the White House instead. With no public appearances on the calendar, his whereabouts remain a mystery.
While questions remain about his health, Trump has also been in the news for his aggressive economic policies. His administration recently took a stake in Intel to boost domestic chip production and reduce reliance on China. Supporters called this a strong move for national security, while critics worry it could give the government too much control over private businesses.
Trump has also threatened new tariffs on countries that impose digital service taxes targeting American tech giants like Meta, Google, and Amazon. After meeting with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Trump warned that “discriminatory” digital tax policies would be met with tough trade restrictions. He argued that these taxes unfairly punish US companies while giving Chinese firms an advantage.
That hasn’t stopped him from posting up a storm on Truth Social. Trump has used his platform to rail against “discriminatory” digital taxes, threaten new tariffs, and brag about his administration’s surprise decision to take a stake in Intel. Supporters say it’s bold industrial policy. Critics call it dangerous government meddling in private business.
The Big Question
So is Trump really unwell, or just taking a quiet break ahead of Labor Day? His team insists he is fit and working harder than ever. But as the President continues to avoid the spotlight, speculation is running wild.
For now, one thing is clear: America is waiting to see Donald Trump in public again. Until then, the rumors aren’t going anywhere.
