HI, WELCOME TO ABOUT INSIDER! THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO CHAT WITH US! CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOURSELF, WHO IS ROBERTO MORETTO IN YOUR OWN WORDS?
I’ve got lots of things that make me who I am. But in a nutshell, I’ve always been someone who is very outgoing, kind, polite and respectful. I’m hardworking, driven and passionate. I love quality time with friends and family, I help others and I never quit. Yes I grew up loving the arts but I also love sports as well and I played many of them throughout my life. That’s where my competitive nature and athleticism come from. I take my health and fitness very seriously as I’m very disciplined and I stick to a routine.
HOW HAS YOUR ITALIAN HERITAGE AND FLUENCY IN SPANISH INFLUENCED YOUR APPROACH TO ACTING AND STORYTELLING?
Having an Italian background has always been a big help for me in my career. As an actor it gives me an opportunity to have a diverse range of characters which allows me to showcase the Italian culture. My dad and I love the classic films like “The God Father”, “Good Fellas” and “Casino”. We love talking to each other with an accent and using slang terms which definitely helps me understand and showcase the culture more effectively. The same goes with my Spanish heritage. Speaking the language and having a big family along with Spanish friends definitely helped me with my storytelling. I understand the culture. Having travelled to Spanish countries has opened my mind to exploring different possible characters that I can portray on screen.

YOU BEGAN YOUR ACTING JOURNEY AT A YOUNG AGE. WHO WERE YOUR EARLY INSPIRATIONS IN THE INDUSTRY, AND HOW DID THEY SHAPE YOUR CAREER ASPIRATIONS?
When I first started I always admired the great Daniel Day- Lewis. I’ve always admired his work as he truly is a master of the craft. He is a very hard working and committed actor who fully submerges into his character and always gives an outstanding performance. I fell involve with that level of commitment and passion and I wanted to learn from him. Because of him my career aspirations were set high and all I want is to give the best possible performance so that others can enjoy what they are watching.
YOU’VE GRADUATED FROM SEVERAL PRESTIGIOUS FILM INSTITUTIONS. CAN YOU SHARE HOW YOUR EDUCATION HAS IMPACTED YOUR CRAFT AND THE LESSONS YOU TOOK AWAY FROM YOUR TRAINING?
I’ve gotten the chance to learn from many great coaches and I’m very thankful for that. Attending these schools has definitely helped me thrive and succeed as a more confident and skilled actor. The lessons I’ve learned over the years shaped me into the actor I am today. With the use of my technique and process work it helps me make big and bold choices in every scene while staying connected and committed to my role and scene partners. My training has given me all the necessary tools to succeed and to take on any role with confidence.
YOU’VE PARTICIPATED IN THE TIFF 48-HOUR FILM CHALLENGE. WHAT WAS THAT EXPERIENCE LIKE, AND HOW DID IT CONTRIBUTE TO YOUR GROWTH AS AN ACTOR?
Participating in the TIFF challenge for two years in a row was definitely an amazing experience and opportunity. I had a lot of fun filming but it definitely was intense. This challenge contributed to my growth as it pushed me to work quickly and more efficiently as well as learning to work through pressure and difficult situations. I wasn’t given a script until I started production so I had no idea what the story nor character was about and that was a challenge of it’s own. I had to create a character and learn my dialogue in less than ten minutes and that really put my acting skills and creativity to the test. It taught to always be openminded and to trust my instincts and let them guide me through the scene. It’s a great way for everyone to screen their films and learn the process of filmmaking.

WITH YOUR DIVERSE BACKGROUND, DO YOU SEEK OUT ROLES THAT REFLECT YOUR CULTURAL IDENTITY, OR DO YOU PREFER TO CHALLENGE YOURSELF WITH DIFFERENT CHARACTERS?
I think that every character comes with a challenge of it’s own. I love playing all kinds of characters, whether they reflect my cultural background or not I still choose to challenge myself with any role that will push me beyond my limits and allow me to learn something new along the way.
YOU RECENTLY WALKED THE RUNWAY IN MADRID FOR DESIGNER FELIX RAMIRO. HOW DOES YOUR EXPERIENCE IN FASHION INTERSECT WITH YOUR WORK AS AN ACTOR?
Walking for Felix Ramiro was a tremendous honour and it was a beautiful show. Felix is a very humble, outgoing and respectful man and is very well known in the world of mens fashion in Spain. We are great friends. I’ve always loved fashion and having any opportunity to walk for a designer is always incredible. Walking in runways is part of my work and if I have the availability I will gladly do it because it is something that I enjoy doing.
WHAT UPCOMING PROJECTS ARE YOU EXCITED ABOUT, AND WHAT CAN YOUR FANS LOOK FORWARD TO IN THE NEAR FUTURE?
I am currently in the early stages of pre production for two films that I wrote and I will be staring in them come 2025. I’m really excited about both projects because these are two stories that have been in development for a while and I’m very eager to share them with the world.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO YOUNG ASPIRING ACTORS LOOKING TO BREAK INTO THE INDUSTRY, ESPECIALLY THOSE FROM DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS?
My advice to any aspiring actor would be to “NEVER GIVE UP”. Never stop going after what you want in life and always be willing to strive for the best. Go where your heart tells you and never be afraid to take risks. Be fearless and don’t listen to nobody just stay on your course because what’s destined for you is gonna find you. Prioritize your training, study the craft and push yourself beyond your limits. Always be open and learn and don’t ever get discouraged. Get on as many short films and projects as you can and connect yourself with people that are working towards the same goal. If you are bilingual, use that to your advantage because that will open up a whole range of characters and worldwide opportunities.
