Scottie Scheffler has won The Open and is now being compared to golf legend Tiger Woods. Many players, fans, and commentators are saying Scheffler’s dominance in golf reminds them of how Tiger ruled the sport years ago.

Scheffler, 29, from the USA, has now won four major championships: two Masters titles, the US PGA Championship, and The Open. He also won Olympic gold in 2024 and has 13 PGA Tour wins. This level of success has made him the world’s number one golfer.

After winning The Open at Royal Portrush, some pointed out that both Scheffler and Woods took exactly 1,197 days to go from their first to their fourth major win. But Scheffler humbly said, “I still think they’re a bit silly… Tiger stands alone in the game of golf.”

Even though he has a long way to go to match Tiger’s career (Woods has 15 major wins and 82 PGA Tour victories), Scheffler’s calm and consistent performance is drawing major attention.

Fellow golfer Rory McIlroy said, “Scottie is the bar we’re all trying to get to.” Another player, Xander Schauffele, added, “He’s a tough man to beat.”

Unlike Tiger, who often showed emotion on the course, Scheffler stays calm and focused. He rarely celebrates loudly, but his quiet focus helps him stay strong under pressure. Even though his swing doesn’t look perfect, top players like Shane Lowry say Scheffler is “incredible to watch.”

Scheffler has been working hard since he was a child. His coach, Randy Smith, said he always had a special fire and love for learning. He turned pro in 2018 and quickly became one of the top players in the world.

Even after reaching world number one, some people questioned his putting. So, in 2023, he began working with top putting coach Phil Kenyon. They changed his grip, and it worked. Scheffler is now one of the best putters on the tour.

Scheffler says he is still learning and improving. After winning The Open, he hugged his wife and baby son, tears in his eyes, showing how much it all meant to him.

While he still has a long way to go to match Tiger Woods’ career, Scottie Scheffler is clearly on a special path, and many believe this is just the beginning.
