Singh, who has been at the helm of TikTok North America as the head of ad sales, will officially assume his new role following the resignation of Praveen Someshwar, the current Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, effective February 28. Sameer Singh’s departure from TikTok was confirmed recently, with reports indicating that he will remain with the company until the end of February. Singh joined ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company, in 2019 as the head of Global Business Solutions for the Asia-Pacific region. His tenure at TikTok saw him leading ad sales initiatives across North America, contributing to the platform’s growth and advertising success.
An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta, Singh brings over three decades of extensive experience in digital and brand innovation. His career spans various high-profile roles across digital platforms, advertising agencies, and major corporations. Before his role at TikTok, Singh served as the CEO of GroupM India and South Asia, where he focused on driving digital leadership and content strategy to deliver competitive advantages for clients. His leadership at GroupM underscored his expertise in media strategy and digital transformation.
Singh’s career trajectory also includes key positions at global giants such as Google, GSK, Procter & Gamble, and IPG. At Google, he led agency partnerships in India and played a pivotal role in client conversations about the value of digital strategies in the Americas and for global large customers. His tenure at GSK and P&G saw him pioneering the shift towards digital media spending, reflecting his forward-thinking marketing and brand management approach.
Throughout his career, Singh has lived and worked in major cities around the world, including New York, New Delhi, Palo Alto, Boston, London, Dubai, and Guangzhou. His diverse international experience has equipped him with a broad perspective on global business operations and marketing strategies.
