Luxury fashion brand Miu Miu has announced the appointment of Silvia Onofri as its new CEO, marking a strategic leadership change to sustain the brand’s recent growth. Onofri steps into the role following the departure of Benedetta Petruzzo, who left in September last year to take on the position of Managing Director at Christian Dior Couture.
With noteworthy sales growth in recent years, Miu Miu seeks stability in a challenging luxury market. The last quarter of 2024 saw a downturn for many competitors, prompting Miu Miu’s parent company, Prada Group, to proactively strengthen its leadership and refine its market strategy.
Onofri brings a wealth of experience in the luxury fashion industry, having previously served as president of Napapijri, a high-end outerwear brand. Her career also includes 15 years at Bally, where she played a key role in shaping the Swiss footwear brand’s direction, and early experience at Bulgari in Rome. Her expertise is expected to guide Miu Miu through an evolving market landscape and reinforce its position as a leading luxury brand.
Prada Group CEO Andrea Guerra emphasized Miu Miu’s strategic focus for the year, stating that the brand will prioritize continuous market analysis and internal competition. He added that Miu Miu will challenge itself further, refining its approach based on subtle market shifts and ensuring adaptability in a fluctuating luxury sector.
Onofri’s appointment signals a new chapter for Miu Miu that balances innovation, resilience, and a keen eye on emerging market trends. As the luxury industry notices economic uncertainties, her leadership is set to play a crucial role in maintaining Miu Miu’s upward trajectory.
