HELLO KAPEESH, WELCOME TO ABOUT INSIDER! WE ARE THRILLED TO TALK WITH YOU TODAY. WHAT GAVE YOU THE IDEA TO START ACTING AND MADE YOU REALIZE THAT IT WAS YOUR DESTINY?
My journey as an actor was actually a coincidence. I always wanted to be an astronaut. I was sent to a boarding school at the age of 8. That school had lots of rules and a strict discipline. In my head I was sure I was going to be an astronaut. But people come in our life to teach us and makes us realize things that we are not even aware off. And in my life that person showed up as my Hindi teacher. It was the fifth grade Hindi elocution competition and while she was responsible to teach all the kids and getting us ready for the day, she did a little extra to help me win. I had no idea that what my teacher was teaching me is acting. She taught me how to connect with the words and use expressions to express their meaning. Body language. My fifth grade brain could only understand do this so you can get it over with. But when the day came, I won but not just that the actual magic happened next year when I won again in the English elocution. And amongst all the people the first person who I did not ever expect this to say to me, my father said you have good stage presence ever thought of acting or theater. To be honest I thought the world was ending and my dad’s gone crazy. But then I started taking parts in plays and all of a sudden, I fell in love with the person I was when I was on stage. It filled a part of me it was like the right puzzle parts going at the right places. That was when I gave some thought to what my father said to me, and I knew that I am an actor. Whenever people ask me why did I choose acting, I tell them I don’t know cause I didn’t choose acting. Acting chose me.
