Claire Julia Dobe is a New York based actress and singer who also loves to play soccer, throw discus and shot put for her high school. So far, Claire has been in several musicals including High School Musical Jr., The Lion King Jr, Freaky Friday and Mamma Mia.
About Insider sat down with Claire to discuss acting and what keeps her busyon the East Coast.
HELLO CLAIRE JULIA DOBE, WELCOME TO ABOUT INSIDER! FOR THOSE UNFAMILIAR WITH YOU, TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF OUTSIDE OF SHOWBIZ.
Hi! I’m Claire. I am an actress and when I am not acting, I play soccer, I throw discus and shot put. I like to read and write; I enjoy school clubs like Project Lit. I like to volunteer at my local library, my church folk group, I like to hang out with my friends, and I like to listen to music!
WHAT HAVE YOU ENJOYED SO FAR ABOUT ACTING?
I’ve enjoyed my acting classes, improving and getting better by each class. I like the people who are training me. They are really fun to work with, and funny.
HAVE YOU CHOSEN A MONOLOGUE AND IF SO, WHAT IS IT?
I have a monologue from Harry Potter, one of the first times Hermione Granger speaks in ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.’ It’s in a British accent in that Hermoine perfectionist tone.
“Are you sure that’s a real spell? Well, it’s not very good, is it? I’ve tried a few simple spells just for practice and it’s all worked for me. Nobody in my family’s magic at all, it was such a surprise when I got my letter, but I was so happy, obviously. I mean, it’s the very best school of witchcraft there is, I’ve heard. I’ve learned all of our course books by heart, obviously, I just hope it will be enough.”

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE MOVIE?
Maze Runner, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Mamma Mia, and Newsies (1992).
ASIDE FROM ACTING, DO YOU PLAY ANY INSTRUMENTS?
I play the viola, and I am learning how to play the guitar, I know a bit of violin.
