KMD Brands, the company behind Rip Curl, Kathmandu, and Oboz, has announced Brent Scrimshaw as its new Group CEO and Managing Director. He will officially take over the role on March 24, 2025.

Scrimshaw, a veteran in the sports apparel industry, has been a director at KMD Brands since 2017 and has served as the global CEO of marketing services company Enero since 2020. Before that, he spent 19 years at Nike, holding key leadership roles, including Vice President of Brand Marketing for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and CEO of Western Europe.

Outgoing CEO Michael Daly will step down on March 25 and will work alongside Scrimshaw during a transition period until April 4.

“I’m energized by the opportunity ahead as I step into the Group CEO role,” said Scrimshaw. ” With 30 years of experience building brands worldwide, I’m excited to focus on strengthening consumer connections through bold and innovative products while amplifying the unique identity of our iconic brands.”

Daly had announced his departure in October last year. Shortly after, former Rip Curl CEO Brooke Farris also stepped down after three years leading the surfwear brand.

Scrimshaw will be based in Melbourne, where KMD Brands is headquartered.
