Breaking News: Rahul Gandhi Detained by Delhi Police over Dharna at Delhi’s Vijay Chowk

On Tuesday, Congress President Sonia Gandhi is called to the office of the Enforcement Directorate in Delhi for another round of questioning in connection with the National Herald money laundering case. On the other hand, in a planned protest by the Congress party, Congress MPs protested rally from the Gandhi Statue on the Parliament premises towards Vijay Chowk.

Some of them, including Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, Manickam Tagore, Imran Pratapgarhi, Ranjeet Ranjan, KC Venugopal, and K Suresh, were detained during the march. Lashing out at the Modi government for “dictatorship”, Rahul Gandhi highlighted that they were not being allowed to have talks inside Parliament and during protests.

While speaking to the media, Rahul said, “India is a police state, Modi is a king”. The Congress MPs performed a protest march from Parliament House to the Rashtrapati Bhavan on account of questioning of Congress President Sonia Gandhi by the ED and no discussion on important topics like prise rise in the legislature house.

However, the Delhi police stopped the parliamentarians midway near Vijay Chowk. Then, Rahul Gandhi and other party members sat in protest in front of Vijay Chowk. The Congress parliamentarians raised slogans against the ED and Central government. On the other hand, police, paramilitary and Rapid Action Force were heavily deployed.

“I am not going anywhere. We wanted to go towards the President’s house. But the police are not allowing us,” Rahul Gandhi said. The political turmoil boosted national politics since Sonia Gandhi is questioned by the ED.
