Brandon Baughman is an actor and model from Tucson in Arizonawho has won twelve awards in fashion print, runway, swimwear, jeans, and commercial print. He is part of NYLA Talent, the world’s leader in the talent development and consulting space where he trains with Connor Weil (Disney’s: KC Undercover) and Robert Vito (Spy Kids 3).
This June, Brandon is headed to Hollywood where he sets to shine on the runway once more during iPOP! Los Angeles.
When Brandon is not modelling or acting, he enjoys club soccer as a goalie, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and riding motocross bikes, which he also maintains the engine, so it rides smoothly. He has three dogs at home, and when Brandon turns of age, he wants to volunteer his time at a local shelter to help care for the animals.
HELLO BRANDON BAUGHMAN, WELCOME TO ABOUT INSIDER! WHAT GOT YOU INTO ACTING THAT MADE YOU REALIZE THAT IT WAS YOUR CHOSEN PATH?
I have wanted to be an actor since I was a little kid, and my parents gave me some opportunities to try and make it happen.
WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM OTHER ACTORS?
My combination of looks, athleticism, and ability to adapt to different situations.
WHAT KIND OF TRAINING HAVE YOU RECEIVED WITH NYLA TALENT AGENCY?
I have received training in Monologue, improv, acting prep, commercial, self-tape, and acting workshops from talent such as Connor Weil, Robert Vito, Ryan Pinkston, and Matthew Michael Ross. After graduating from Barbizon Southwest in Phoenix in March 2023, I attended IMTA ‘24 in Los Angeles, CA.
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR FAVORITE ROLES YOU’VE BEEN INVOLVED IN?
I was a pirate in a Drama Kids play when I was about 7. That was a lot of fun for me then.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE PROJECTS THAT YOU TYPICALLY PREFER?
I would prefer screen projects, but I don’t have a favorite genre yet, so I am open to any genre.
WHAT IS YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS WHEN PREPARING FOR AN AUDITION?
I practice all the basics I have been taught in the last few years. Things like body movement, head turning and placement, where to look, voice warm ups, etc.
HAS THERE BEEN ONE PARTICULAR MOMENT IN YOUR CAREER THAT YOU’RE MOST PROUD OF?
I won 13 medals at IMTA 2024, including taking 3rd overall for my group.
WHAT’S BEEN THE PROS AND CONS OF PURSUING YOUR CHOSEN CAREER?
Some pros would be meeting some amazing people along the way. Some cons would be the lack of auditions.
WHO ARE YOUR INFLUENCES GROWING UP THAT HELPED TO MOLD YOU INTO WHO YOU ARE TODAY?
My main influences would be my sister, my parents, and even some of my friends.
IF YOU HAD ONE MESSAGE TO GIVE TO YOUR YOUNGER SELF, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Don’t grow up too quickly.
IF YOU WEREN’T A PASSIONATE ACTOR, WHAT ELSE WOULD YOU BE DOING?
I would be spending more time riding motocross, playing airsoft, and playing sports.
AS A YOUNG PERSON NAVIGATING HOLLYWOOD, HOW DO YOU THINK YOUR ROOTS AND HERITAGE WILL INFLUENCE YOUR WORK AND THE ROLES YOU CHOOSE?
I think having lived in multiple places with different types of communities, I am well versed in relating to all different types of people.
IN TODAY’S HOLLYWOOD, THERE IS A SIGNIFICANT PUSH FOR GREATER INCLUSIVITY AND REPRESENTATION. HOW DO YOU SEE YOUR WORK CONTRIBUTING TO THIS MOVEMENT, AND WHAT CHANGES DO YOU STILL HOPE TO SEE IN THE INDUSTRY?
I think just bringing more awareness and not working against progress would definitely help. As for changes, just to include all people and give anybody a shot at their dream.
FOR FUN! IF YOU WENT BACK TO THE GOLDEN ERA OF HOLLYWOOD, WHICH ACTOR DO YOU RESONATE WITH MOST AND WHY?
I think I would have to say John “The Duke” Wayne. He played lots of different types of roles and didn’t take crap from others. He adapted well to different roles.
HAVE YOU SET ANY 2025 PROFESSIONAL GOALS TO ACHIEVE?
Keep my grades up and learn how to ride my motocross bike better and safer.
