Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot encouraged India’s youth to focus on innovation, entrepreneurship, and leadership to help the country become self-reliant and developed by 2047.

At the 16th Convocation of JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSSAHER) in Mysuru, the Governor urged students to become job creators rather than job seekers and stressed that education should serve society.

“This is one of the most cherished moments of your life. You are stepping into society as architects of a new India and messengers of hope. With the knowledge and skills you’ve gained, I am confident you will overcome challenges and seize new opportunities,” Mr. Gehlot told the graduating students.

He quoted former President Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan: “The purpose of education is to develop the perfection inherent in an individual.” He also shared Swami Vivekananda’s message, “Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached,” to inspire students to use their knowledge in practical ways.

The Governor pointed out new opportunities in healthcare, biotechnology, pharmacy, artificial intelligence, and sustainable development. He said now is the right time for Indian youth to learn, innovate, and help the country move forward.

Mr. Gehlot also praised Karnataka for being a center of education, research, and technology. He credited institutions like JSS for helping make Mysuru and Bengaluru global education destinations.

He paid tribute to Shivaratri Rajendra Swami and Shivaratri Deshikendra Swami of the Suttur Mutt, praising their work in promoting education, healthcare, and human values through programs like Akshara Dasoha (education), Anna Dasoha (food), and Arogya Dasoha (healthcare).

At the ceremony, 2,925 students received degrees, diplomas, and fellowships. Sixteen gold medallists were also honoured for their academic excellence.

5 Tips from the Governor’s Message for India’s Youth

  1. Be a Job Creator, Not a Job Seeker
Use your education and creativity to launch ventures that create jobs and strengthen the nation’s economy.
  2. Turn Knowledge into Action
Don’t just study for marks. Use what you learn to solve real-world problems and help society grow.
  3. Embrace Innovation and Research
Focus on emerging fields like AI, biotechnology, and sustainability, which are shaping the future of India and the world.
  4. Stay Rooted in Indian Values
Learn from India’s rich heritage. Its ancient wisdom in science, medicine, and philosophy can guide modern innovation.
  5. Think Globally, Act Locally
Work to make a difference in your community and help India become a global leader in knowledge and progress.

In short, Governor Gehlot’s message was clear. India’s path to becoming a developed nation by 2047 depends on its youth. Their innovation, hard work, and commitment to social good will shape the country’s future.
