Luxury American fashion house Alexander Wang has named Robert Rizzolo as its new Global Brand President, marking an influential move for the New York-based label as it enters a new era of creative and commercial growth.
Rizzolo, a seasoned fashion executive, brings over two decades of experience in high-end fashion merchandising and brand leadership. Most recently, he served as Chief Merchandising Officer at Marc Jacobs, a role he held for four years until his departure last month. His impressive resume also includes leadership positions at Michael Kors, Gucci, Burberry, Calvin Klein, and Gap.
In a post shared on his LinkedIn, Rizzolo expressed his excitement about the new role, writing:
“Excited to share that I’ve officially stepped into the role of Global President at Alexander Wang, today! This brand has held a place in my heart for two decades—genre-defying, culturally sharp, relentlessly creative. To take on this role alongside Alex and lead this exceptionally talented team into a new chapter is an honor I welcome with gratitude and energy.”
Rizzolo also emphasized his deep appreciation for founder-led brands, highlighting his admiration for Alexander Wang, the brand’s founder and creative director.
“I have always been inspired by the passion that fuels founder-led brands, and I’m thrilled to match Alex’s drive and dedication to the brand and the business. The next chapter starts now.”
The appointment signals a strategic move for Alexander Wang, a brand known for its bold, urban-luxe aesthetic and cultural influence. Over the past few years, the company has worked to rebuild its public image and expand its creative partnerships.
One of its most notable recent campaigns was a high-profile collaboration with rapper Ice Spice, who became the face of the Spring 2024 collection, bringing new energy and relevance to the brand’s image.
With Rizzolo at the helm, the brand appears ready to elevate its global presence and sharpen its identity in a competitive luxury landscape. His strong track record in merchandising and brand building, combined with a deep understanding of fashion culture, makes him a powerful addition to the Alexander Wang leadership team.
As the brand embarks on this new journey, all eyes will be on how Rizzolo and Alexander Wang together shape the future of one of New York’s most iconic fashion labels.
