Bulgari Enters New Chapter as Laura Burdese Takes Over as CEO

Bulgari has announced a leadership change, marking a new chapter for the iconic Roman jewellery house. Laura Burdese has been appointed Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1, 2026. She will succeed Jean-Christophe Babin and report directly to Stéphane Bianchi, Managing Director of the LVMH Group and CEO of LVMH Watches and Jewellery.

Laura Burdese is not new to Bulgari or the LVMH Group. She brings deep experience and a strong understanding of luxury branding. Burdese joined LVMH in 2016 as President and CEO of Acqua di Parma, where she strengthened the brand’s global positioning. In 2022, she moved to Bulgari as Chief Marketing Officer and played a key role in shaping the brand’s modern image while respecting its Roman heritage. Her strong performance led to her promotion as Deputy CEO in July 2024.

Stéphane Bianchi described the transition as smooth and well planned. He noted that for the past three years, Laura Burdese and Jean-Christophe Babin have worked closely to elevate Bulgari’s brand across jewellery, watches, and lifestyle segments. Bianchi said Burdese’s appointment recognizes her contribution, leadership, and vision for the future of the maison.

Jean-Christophe Babin will step down as CEO after more than 25 years with the LVMH Group. He led TAG Heuer and later transformed Bulgari into a global luxury powerhouse. Under his leadership, Bulgari’s revenues grew dramatically, making it a multibillion-euro brand. He expanded Bulgari into high-end watchmaking and luxury hospitality, with hotels in major global cities. His commitment to Italian craftsmanship was evident in projects such as the expansion of Valenza’s jewellery manufacturing and the launch of Scuola Bulgari, a training school for jewellery artisans.

Even after stepping down as CEO, Babin will remain closely involved with the brand. He will continue as Chairman of the Bulgari Board, CEO of the Bulgari Hotel Business Unit, and President of the Bulgari Foundation.

Laura Burdese’s background spans beauty, fashion, watches, and luxury goods. She has worked with global names such as L’Oréal, Beiersdorf, Swatch Group, and Calvin Klein. With her marketing expertise and leadership experience, she is well positioned to guide Bulgari into its next phase of growth.

This leadership change reflects LVMH’s focus on continuity, long-term vision, and the development of internal talent, while ensuring Bulgari remains true to its heritage and craftsmanship.
