In a world where aerialists are constantly looking for new ways to push the envelope, Katt Watts just raised the bar—literally. Suspended under a hot air balloon, high above the ground with no stage and no backdrop but the sky, she performed in the lyra as the balloon lifted into the morning light.
This wasn’t a film set or a green-screen moment. It was real: raw, high-risk, and fully in motion.
“I had a hoop, a rig point, friends, crew and a pilot who believed in me,” says Katt. “The conditions were constantly shifting. But I trusted my team, my training, and my body.”
With a balloon rigging crew and months of preparation behind her, she was good to go before dawn. As the balloon ascended, she moved into position on the hoop and began a routine—dozens of feet in the air, surrounded by clouds and wind. Each movement required complete focus and control.
More Than a Performer – A Visionary in Motion
While the stunt is attention-grabbing, it’s just one piece of a much bigger picture. Katt is more than a performer—she’s a choreographer, educator, and entrepreneur who’s been shaping the aerial industry for over a decade.
Her journey started with gymnastics as a kid, eventually leading her to become a certified aerial instructor and professional performer. But over time, her role expanded.
“I’ve never been content just being in the air,” she says. “I want to create the spaces, shape the shows, train the talent.”
Today, Katt mentors students, choreographs professional productions, and runs a company that helps source and develop performers for events and shows nationwide.
Teaching: The Heart of Her Work
For Katt, teaching is more than demonstrating tricks—it’s about guiding people through personal transformation. Her classes are designed to build confidence, body awareness, and self-expression through movement.
“I’ve taught hundreds of students, and every single one teaches me something too,” she says. “Technique is important. But what matters most is embodiment—when you stop performing and start feeling.”
She’s known for her precision and her high safety standards, but also for creating a space where students of all backgrounds feel empowered to grow and express themselves.
Entrepreneurship Born from a Need for Change
Katt’s entrepreneurial journey began when she started seeing the same issues show up over and over again—unsafe practices, underrepresented voices, and a lack of structure to support professional aerialists.
So, she started building the missing pieces.
Now she directs shows, produces custom performance experiences, and develops tools for other performers to grow sustainable careers. Whether she’s training new talent, managing production logistics, or launching new initiatives behind the scenes, Katt is focused on building a better system—one that’s artist-first and future-facing.
What’s Next? Bigger, Bolder, and Built to Elevate
While she’s not revealing specifics just yet, Katt hints that a new venture is on the way—something that blends performance, innovation, and wellness.
