French down-jacket brand Just Over the Top, widely known as Jott, is entering a new chapter. In September, the company appointed Thierry Miremont as its new president. Miremont is a seasoned expert in business transformation and turnaround strategies. His arrival signals that Jott is ready to confront its challenges and move toward a more stable future.
For the past three years, Miremont led the French operations of FTI Consulting, an international corporate advisory firm. His career also includes leadership roles at major companies such as Lafuma Immobilier, CFC Croisière, Fram, Europcar, and TNT. He also has experience in the fashion and lifestyle sector, having served as COO of Quiksilver Europe. With this diverse background, Miremont brings both strategic expertise and industry understanding to Jott.
Founded 15 years ago by Nicolas and Mathieu Gourdikian, Jott quickly made its name as a specialist in lightweight down jackets. The brand expanded rapidly and recorded nearly €150 million in revenue in 2022. However, fast growth can bring complications. Jott has been searching for the right business model to scale sustainably and become a long-term global player.
In 2021, investment fund L Catterton, connected to LVMH and the Arnault family, acquired a significant stake in the company. This move showed confidence in Jott’s potential but also increased expectations for performance and global expansion.
Over the last few years, several senior leaders have tried to redefine the brand’s direction. Jott’s strategy relied on quickly opening new stores and replicating its retail concept beyond France. Today, the brand has about 1,000 retail partners and 200 monobrand stores across 30 countries. Despite this wide network, maintaining steady growth has been challenging.
Former CEO Didier Lalance worked on moving the brand upmarket and diversifying its product range. Then in 2024, Benjamin Durand-Servoingt, with experience at McKinsey and the Etam group, took charge as L Catterton explored the option of selling the company.
Jott continues to hold strong positions in major department stores, but this year it closed several of its own stores in medium-sized French cities. This shows the company is reassessing its retail footprint. To strengthen its relationship with multibrand retailers, Jott will showcase its new collections at Pitti Uomo in Florence and Who’s Next in Paris in January.
With Thierry Miremont now at the helm, the industry will be watching closely. His expertise in corporate transformation may be what Jott needs to stabilize operations, refine its strategy, and secure a lasting place in the global outerwear market.
