Teen Actor and Singer Kassidy Wright Joins Hollywood Elite this Summer

Singer Kassidy Wright

Ever since Kassidy Wright was selected to be Chip in a Disney World Skit, at age 5, she was captivated by the magic of the performing arts. She signed up for every audition she could find, and over the years she has grown from the 30 plus productions she has participated in. Theater has played a huge part in her life, where she comes alive on stage whether it be in a sold out venue, or local coffee shop.

Kassidy has been taking voice lessons from Jenna Laurise Studios since 2017 and performs in their Spring and Fall recitals along with guest appearances at their piano recitals. Kassidy continues to hone her craft with an array of dance classes (hip hop, jazz, contemporary, tap & ballet). She is part of NYLA Talent, the world’s leader in the talent development and consulting space where she trains with Connor Weil (Disney’s: KC Undercover) for acting; Suzanne Von Schaack for modeling bootcamp; and James Lugo for singing intensive. One of Kassidy’s favorite performing memories was when she was selected out of thousands of students to perform at the Gala for the Foundation for Douglas County Schools. Due to Covid, the Gala was virtual so a film crew filmed her outdoors which was like a music video:

Outside of the performing arts, Kassidy enjoys playing volleyball, soccer, pickleball, tennis and golf. She volunteers with her church youth group where they provide entertainment with her ukulele for elderly friends in various assisted living centers. She also has a soft spot for children with extra needs / disorders since she lost 2 young cousins from rare diseases. She creates artistic colorful cards to deliver to hospitalized kids. Kassidy’s friends describe her as an energetic, funny, ambitious and optimistic fifteen year old with a heart of gold. Her parents describe her as a kind-hearted cuddle bug who loves making others smile and laugh. She has a presence and light that fills the room and a lovely voice that carries. She is also self motivated and if she wants something and puts her mind to it, she perseveres through anything to achieve it. Obviously, pursuing anything related to performing in her future would be her dream come true. Here is a poem created backstage by Kassidy:

In the realm of theater, emotions ignite,
A stage where stories come to life, shining bright.
Through laughter and tears, we connect deep within,
As the characters’ journeys unfold, under the spotlight’s din.
From tragedy to comedy, the spectrum we explore,
Finding solace in the tales that resonate to our core.
So let us immerse ourselves in this magical art,
Where empathy blooms and healing can start.
For in the theater’s embrace, we find solace and grace,
A sanctuary for the heart, a refuge, in this beautiful space.

WHAT GOT YOU INTO ACTING AND MUSICAL THEATRE THAT MADE YOU REALIZE THAT IT WAS YOUR CHOSEN PATH?
After her brief experience as Chip in the Disney World skit because she jumped the highest when they asked for a volunteer, she was determined to be Chip “for real.” So, when the local High School was performing Beauty and the Beast and needed a kid who could carry a tune and was small enough to fit in a roller box, she worked hard to get the part. Despite several months of late rehearsals, she absolutely fell in love with every aspect of performing. The cast and crew nurtured her growth while unknowingly forging an impression that would lead to a long line of future musical productions.

She loves seeing the smiles and joy from audience members along with the camaraderie that envelops between the castmates throughout the production process.

This particular director introduced Kassidy to other directors and called upon her to be Marta in the Sound of Music a few years later. Building these kinds of relationships has made Kassidy realize musical theatre was a blessed chosen path for her.

WHAT SETS YOU APART FROM OTHER ACTORS?
What sets Kassidy apart from other actors is her genuine care and concern for the entire cast and crew. She treats the lighting and clean up crew with the same respect and kindness as her leading man. Since she benefited so much from others when she was starting out, she pays that forward by nurturing and mentoring younger thespians as well. She encourages creativity and compassion for all others involved. She loves seeing others succeed and works hard to maintain a level of professionalism far beyond her years. Kassidy is able to sense if someone is struggling or in need of attention. When she was 13, her principal and teacher awarded her the outstanding Student of the Year after witnessing her reach out to others. For example, a girl was off eating lunch alone and Kass went over to invite her to come eat with her group of friends. When another student was crying at recess alone in a corner, Kass went over and braided her hair to cheer her up. When a new boy was sitting on the buddy bench because he did not have anyone to hang out with she waved him over to join their gaga ball game. Despite being dramatic, she despises DRAMA and acts as a peacemaker in various group situations. Her charitable heart and concern for everyone definitely sets her apart from others.
