Simon & Schuster has announced the appointment of Perminder Mann as the new CEO of Simon & Schuster International, effective May 1, 2025. She will succeed Ian Chapman, who will step down at the end of May. As part of her role, Perminder will oversee Simon & Schuster UK and manage its international operations, including Australia and India. She will report directly to Jonathan Karp, CEO of Simon & Schuster, and will also join the company’s Executive Board.
Perminder Mann brings a wealth of experience to her new position, having served as CEO of Bonnier Books UK since 2017. Reflecting on her time at Bonnier, she expressed pride in her achievements and gratitude for her colleagues, stating, “During my 15 incredible years at Bonnier Books UK, I’ve had the privilege of working alongside some of the most talented teams in publishing. Together, we have built an industry-leading culture, published an extraordinary range of bestselling books, and grown a dynamic, ambitious business that continues to thrive.”
Jonathan Karp praised Perminder’s leadership and vision, describing her as a strategic thinker and innovator. “Her vision for Simon & Schuster’s future is exciting and expansive, one with an emphasis on building upon our impressive foundation to make our publishing programs even stronger,” he said.
Perminder’s publishing career spans various leadership roles across the industry. She began in sales at Macmillan and Transworld before launching UK offices for international children’s publishers Hinkler and Phidal. She also spent time in the toy industry before joining Bonnier Books UK. Beyond publishing, she serves as the Chair of the Board of Trustees for Arts Emergency, is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and holds an Honorary Visiting Professorship at City, University of London. Additionally, she is the current President of the Publishers Association in the UK.
