‘Give Me That’ appeals to those of us that dream of stepping away from the daily grind of their work, which in Lily’s case, is to step away from her guitar (her strings) and, “wonder what it’s like to live a no strings life” and “grab life by the moment”.
Inspired by her own journey, Lily wrote this track on a writing trip to Nashville, TN, (along with Scott Barrier and Joseph Wandass IV) where she was reflecting about striking a balance between ambition fuelled by hard work and the desire for spontaneity.
The track details her experience as a young artist in the industry, “working on the weekend, every minute I spend, pushing it to the edge”, playing shows every weekend, and turning down numerous invites to weekends away, concerts, and parties with the commitment she’s made, whilst feeling like she’s “caught up in the crazy, always chasing the me I want to be in my head”.
‘Give Me That’ is a song for anyone who’s made a commitment. Be it to a relationship, a job, a family, a degree, their career or a goal, it’s an anthem for those moments when you wish you could throw all of your responsibilities out the window and just “grab life by the moment”, as she sings ‘Give me that, give me that full moon night, party crowd raising their hands up high” and “spending all night dancing to a street band”.
Lily invites listeners to embrace the allure of possibility and the excitement of loosening the strings with this release, as a part of her upcoming debut album, ‘Old Enough To Know Better’ releasing in August.
So, whether you’re seeking a soundtrack for your own midnight escapades or simply craving escapism too, Lily Grace’s feel-good single, ‘Give Me That’ promises to transport you to a world where responsibilities fade and opportunities arise.
