Ayla Williams, A Vivacious Young Performer Turning Joy, Confidence, and Curiosity into Craft

Artist Ayla Williams

From the moment Ayla Williams stepped onto a community theatre stage at just five years old, she discovered something powerful, acting made her feel completely herself. What began as a childhood activity quickly became a space where she felt expressive, joyful, and appreciated, and it laid the foundation for a lifelong love of performance.

As a little girl, Ayla loved entertaining her family, finding happiness in making others laugh and smile. In fourth grade, her passion deepened after reading a biography about Ariana Grande. Learning about the challenges Ariana overcame showed Ayla what dedication, belief, and persistence can achieve. From that point on, Ayla knew acting was more than a hobby, it was her dream.

Training, Growth, and Creative Foundation

Ayla has built her craft through consistent training and hands-on experience. She has participated in personal coaching sessions and group boot camps for acting, singing, dancing, and modeling through NYLA Talent, while continuing her long-standing involvement in community theatre since early childhood.

In addition to performance training, Ayla has studied piano through private lessons for several years and is currently learning guitar, strengthening her musicality and rhythm. This well-rounded artistic foundation allows her to move comfortably between acting, music, and movement, supporting her growth as a versatile performer.

Favorite Roles and Artistic Exploration

Some of Ayla’s most memorable roles have come from musical theatre, where storytelling, movement, and music merge into immersive experiences.

Her favorite role to date has been Rumpelteazer in Cats. She describes the show as magical, and being part of such an important, immersive story made the experience unforgettable. The role allowed her to fully embrace physicality, character energy, and ensemble storytelling.

Another role that stood out was playing a Russian soldier in Fiddler on the Roof. This character pushed Ayla outside of her comfort zone, challenging her to portray aggression and toughness rather than her natural warmth. The experience expanded her emotional range and strengthened her confidence as an actor.

Accents, Mediums, and Creative Preferences

Ayla enjoys experimenting with accents and dialects, including posh British, Spanish, Brooklyn, and Yiddish. She is particularly drawn to film and television projects, believing that movies and shows allow audiences to connect more deeply with characters than stage productions.

For Ayla, screen work creates space for emotional intimacy and relatability, something she finds especially meaningful as a performer.

Breakthrough Moments and Personal Pride

One of Ayla’s proudest moments came during her experience at iPOP!. She admits she never fully saw herself as a model until she stepped onto that stage and felt an unexpected surge of confidence. That moment shifted how she viewed herself and her potential.

She is equally proud of her commercial performance at iPOP!. Despite feeling nervous beforehand, once she stepped into the moment, she gave it everything she had. The experience became a turning point, helping her learn more about her confidence, resilience, and ability to rise under pressure.

Inspiration and Inner Drive

Ayla draws inspiration from artists who combine talent with authenticity and confidence, including Taylor Swift, Selena Quintanilla, Ariana Grande, and actress Leah Sava Jeffries. She especially admires Leah for breaking stereotypes and showing young performers that success is possible for everyone.

Her message to herself is simple and unwavering: never give up. Ayla knows what she is working toward and remains committed to pursuing the life and career she dreams of.

In one word, she describes herself as vivacious, a reflection of her energy, enthusiasm, and love for life.

Life Beyond the Spotlight

Outside of acting, Ayla loves playing piano and learning guitar, with piano being her favorite for its calming, expressive vibe. She also enjoys spending time outdoors with friends, playing with her animals, building things in her back pasture, and sharing conversations that inevitably turn into gossip about boys.

One thing she will never eat? Octopus, a firm boundary she has no interest in crossing.

Dream Roles and Looking Ahead

Ayla dreams of playing characters with strong personality and humor. She would love to portray a sarcastic, smart, funny character, similar to Louise from Bob’s Burgers. At the same time, she is equally excited by the idea of playing the “dumb pretty girl,” inspired by characters like Haley from Modern Family or Karen from Mean Girls, roles that balance comedy with charm.

Looking ahead, Ayla has set three clear goals for the year: to become a stronger actor, continue building her career, improve her special skills in piano, guitar, and Spanish, and book at least one role.

Community, Connection, and Gratitude

At iPOP!, Ayla most enjoyed meeting people from different backgrounds and seeing everyone come together to support one another. The friendships she formed left a lasting impact, and she plans to stay connected with many of the people she met.

Reflecting on her journey, Ayla shares a powerful image: if she could go back in time and tell the little girl in the Princess Ariel dress how far she has come, that girl would be incredibly proud.
