For Los Angeles-based artist CJ Stowklyn, creativity isn’t about following trends—it’s about trusting the impulse. Blending high fashion, visual art, and music into a singular aesthetic, Stowklyn refuses to be boxed into a single lane. Following collaborations with artists like Matt OX and BigBabyGucci, he returns with his high-octane single, “GO!”, a track defined by forward momentum and unfiltered confidence.
But Stowklyn is looking even further ahead to his immersive upcoming project, Neural Order. In this exclusive Q&A, we speak with the creative visionary about the freedom of home recording, the intersection of style and sound, and why protecting his authenticity remains his ultimate north star in a pressured industry.
WELCOME TO ABOUT INSIDER. FOR READERS DISCOVERING YOU FOR THE FIRST TIME, HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE WHO CJ STOWKLYN IS AS AN ARTIST AND CREATIVE?
CJ Stowklyn is an artist who moves off instinct. I don’t box myself into one lane, music, fashion, visuals, energy, it’s all part of the same language for me. I create from real emotion and curiosity, not trends. Everything I put out is a reflection of where my head is at in that moment.
YOUR NEW SINGLE “GO!” IS BUILT AROUND MOMENTUM, INSTINCT, AND RAW ENERGY. WHAT EMOTIONAL OR CREATIVE SPACE WERE YOU IN WHEN YOU MADE THIS TRACK?
“GO!” came from a place of motion. I was locked in, focused, and moving forward without overthinking. It’s about trusting yourself and acting on impulse when the feeling is right. There wasn’t a lot of second guessing just energy and confidence.
YOU RECORDED “GO!” IN YOUR HOME STUDIO IN LOS ANGELES. HOW DOES WORKING IN YOUR OWN SPACE INFLUENCE THE SOUND AND HONESTY OF YOUR MUSIC?
Being in my own space lets me be completely honest. There’s no pressure, no clock, no outside opinions, just me and the idea. That freedom makes the music more raw and more accurate to how I actually feel.

YOU’VE COLLABORATED AND TOURED WITH ARTISTS LIKE MATT OX, BIGBABYGUCCI, AND MARK BATTLES. HOW HAVE THOSE EXPERIENCES SHAPED YOUR GROWTH AND CONFIDENCE AS AN INDEPENDENT ARTIST?
Touring and collaborating taught me how to carry myself as an artist. Seeing different work ethics, different crowds, and different approaches helped me trust my own vision more. It confirmed that I can stand on my own and still connect.
YOU’RE KNOWN FOR BLENDING HIGH FASHION, STREETWEAR, AND MUSIC INTO A SINGLE AESTHETIC. HOW IMPORTANT IS VISUAL IDENTITY IN TELLING YOUR ARTISTIC STORY?
Visuals are just as important as the sound. They set the tone before you even press play. Fashion, imagery, and music all work together to tell the full story, it’s how people feel the world I’m creating.
YOU OFTEN TALK ABOUT AUTHENTICITY AND FUN AS CORE ELEMENTS OF CREATIVITY. IN AN INDUSTRY THAT CAN FEEL PRESSURED AND COMMERCIAL, HOW DO YOU PROTECT THAT MINDSET?
I protect it by remembering why I started. If it stops being fun or honest, I step back. I don’t chase what’s hot, I chase what feels right. That keeps the work real and keeps me grounded.
YOUR UPCOMING PROJECT NEURAL ORDER PROMISES A DEEPER AND MORE IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE. WHAT CAN LISTENERS EXPECT FROM THIS NEXT CHAPTER OF YOUR SOUND?
Neural Order is more intentional and layered. It’s still me, but more evolved, sonically and emotionally. It’s meant to feel immersive, like stepping into a system or a state of mind rather than just listening to songs.

YOU’RE ALSO PASSIONATE ABOUT HUMANITARIAN AND ENVIRONMENTAL CAUSES. HOW DO THOSE VALUES INFLUENCE THE WAY YOU CREATE AND CONNECT WITH YOUR AUDIENCE?
I care about impact beyond music. Those values shape how I move, what I support, and how I connect with people. I want my platform to mean something and to inspire awareness without forcing it.
LOOKING AHEAD, HOW DO YOU WANT CJ STOWKLYN TO BE REMEMBERED, NOT JUST AS A MUSICIAN, BUT AS A CULTURAL VOICE AND CREATIVE VISIONARY?
I want to be remembered as someone who stayed true to himself and pushed things forward. Someone who created worlds, not just songs, and left a real imprint on culture, not by being loud, but by being authentic.
