Road trips are great fun, and one of the best experiences is parking up, with the stars and the peaceful glow of the moon shining down on you, and watching a movie in your car under a warm blanket.
It’s a joy for both parents and kids alike, and with just a small amount of organization, you can set yourself up for a magical experience to remember. Here’s how to prepare in five steps!
1. Setting Up Your Screen
First up, the most important part – your screen. An iPad, preferably one of the larger models, works best, and you’ll need to get yourself an ipad holder for car that you can affix to the central console in the middle.
2. Check Your Car Audio System
Your car audio system may work great for music, but watching films can require a different setup. Thankfully, most modern car systems are high-quality and can connect straight to your device via Bluetooth or an AUX cable.
If you have an old car based around a CD player, however, you’ll need to upgrade your central amp to something more suitable with the above features.
3. Creating a Comfortable Setup
Cars are not exactly the most comfortable of places to get cozy and watch a film, so you’ll have to put a bit of effort in to get the seating right. The best scenario is with vehicles that have fully adjustable seats in that they can both recline and slide backward. In this way, you slide the rear seats as far back as they’ll go, and position the armature of your tablet holder up high so that the front seats don’t obscure the view.
Try and get as close to this setup as possible even if you can’t replicate it completely. After that, be sure to pad out your seating area with plenty of pillows and blankets!
4. Power and Connectivity
Ensuring adequate power and connectivity is essential both before and during your experience. Firstly, make sure you download any content you want to watch from the streaming service subscription of your choice before your travels (you can use your mobile hotspot in a pinch, however). You should also remember to bring a power bank with you to charge your tablet, and some torches so that you’re not fumbling around in the dark.
5. Snacks and Drinks
And finally, don’t focus so much on everything else that you forget about snacks and drinks! Be sure to take a trip to the supermarket before you travel so that everyone is catered for, and it can also be a good idea to bring a cooling bag for your drinks if you have one (or a couple of good-quality flasks if you want hot drinks).
By following these five relatively simple steps, you can guarantee one of the most unique movie experiences available. Of course, there’s one last step – picking which film to watch! If you have a family, this may well be the most difficult step of all, so good luck!
