HELLO ANTONIO LÓPEZ FERNÁNDEZ, WELCOME TO ABOUTINSIDER AND THANK YOU FOR JOINING US! FOR THOSE WHO MAY NOT KNOW, HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR MUSICAL STYLE AND THE INFLUENCES BEHIND IT?
My style of song is romantic. I am an interpreter of the voice of the heart and of love in its facets. I like to transmit them in a simple and direct way to the heart. I have no influences because I do not imitate anyone; I try to be myself.
VALENCIA IS KNOWN FOR ITS VIBRANT CULTURE. HOW HAS YOUR HOMETOWN INFLUENCED YOUR MUSIC AND ARTISTIC JOURNEY?
Valencia is a beautiful city, but it has not influenced me artistically because I have always been more interested in looking inside my heart, soul, and personal experiences.
YOU’VE BEEN PERFORMING FOR A WHILE NOW, BUT CAN YOU TELL US ABOUT THE MOMENT WHEN YOU REALISED MUSIC WAS YOUR CALLING?
I have always liked music since childhood because I grew up in a home with many music and musicians. I have always needed to write and transmit my feelings and emotions. I realised that I could transmit my emotions to the public a few years ago when they decided to do so when they discovered my writings and melodies, and that’s how I started.
YOUR LATEST SINGLE HAS BEEN GAINING A LOT OF ATTENTION. COULD YOU SHARE THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE SONG AND WHAT MESSAGE YOU WANTED TO CONVEY?
I wanted to convey that it is important to listen to the voice of the heart, be sincere, put aside pride and resentment, recognise mistakes, and, with love, overcome any adversity.
BEING A SINGER CAN BE QUITE A DEMANDING CAREER. HOW DO YOU MAINTAIN YOUR VOICE AND KEEP UP WITH THE PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF PERFORMING?
The only things I do are drink a lot of water to stay hydrated, do aerobic exercise for breathing, and avoid certain foods that affect the throat. It’s all very simple.
THE MUSIC INDUSTRY IS CONSTANTLY EVOLVING, ESPECIALLY WITH THE RISE OF STREAMING PLATFORMS. HOW HAVE YOU ADAPTED TO THESE CHANGES IN HOW MUSIC IS DISTRIBUTED AND CONSUMED?
I am an artist who does not imitate anyone and tries to be faithful to my style. I present my work and respect the public, who is the one who really decides whether you sing or not. I do not obsess over changes; they are simply new ways of reaching more people.
COLLABORATION IS A BIG PART OF TODAY’S MUSIC SCENE. ARE THERE ANY ARTISTS, EITHER FROM SPAIN OR INTERNATIONALLY, THAT YOU DREAM OF COLLABORATING WITH?
I want to collaborate with the group A-Ha for their magnificent sound, with the great Paul McCartney for the sensitivity of his songs, with Jlo for her strength and determination, with the actress Jennifer Anniston for her joy, and with Kylie Minogue for her particular sensitivity, but these are dreams that I have.
WHAT IS YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS LIKE? DO YOU HAVE A ROUTINE FOR SONGWRITING, OR DOES INSPIRATION STRIKE YOU SPONTANEOUSLY?
I don’t follow any routine. The only thing I do is start writing and understanding when my heart tells me to. At that moment, I first write the lyrics structured in my mind in the form of a song, and then I put it to music because I believe that if you don’t have lyrics, there is no music. Then I met with my team, and together, we defined and polished the songs because teamwork is very important for me.
PERFORMING LIVE IS SUCH A KEY ASPECT OF BEING AN ARTIST. DO YOU HAVE ANY FAVOURITE MEMORIES FROM CONCERTS OR A PARTICULAR VENUE THAT STANDS OUT FOR YOU?
For me, every concert is unique and important, and the most beautiful thing about each one is when you manage to move just one person because that moment is magical and special.
FINALLY, WHAT’S NEXT FOR YOU? ANY EXCITING PROJECTS, ALBUMS, OR TOURS ON THE HORIZON THAT WE SHOULD BE LOOKING OUT FOR?
I continue promoting my album Desde mi Silencio and producing my next album. In January, I will work as an actor in a period film.
